I have a 20mbps Home uncapped Fibre account with Afrihost. I am aware that they shape/throttle you after 200gig (on 20mbps line) in a 30 day rolling period. Today I wanted to check my usage and see when to expect this "throttling". The data statistics on the clientzone states "coming soon". I opened a ticket and the response I got was:

"Please be advise that we are still implementing a solution for the data logs. Once our Dev team implements the logs, it will be acceptable. Fibre is still in the Beta phase."

As a customer shouldn't I be aware of buying a product when it is still in beta ? They don't mention this when applying for fibre. If I knew this I probably would've went with a more "experienced" fibre provider.

On the plus side if they cannot provide you with logs to your usage they cannot shape/throttle you.

OUCH! For real? I used to do more than that a month on my 2mb ADSL account. I did about 350gb this weekend just downloading Xbox games on my 20mb fibre.

200gb is peanuts for a 20mb account. That's less than two days downloading at full speed.

We're on Century City Connect with ISP Afrika. We had a bit of an issue in Jan with them capping our 'uncapped' account and trying to justify it, but from there smooth sailing all the way.

We're paying R799pm. What's AfriHost's costs on the Home Uncapped?

On Openserve Afrihost 20mbps Home Uncapped is R999 and Premium Uncapped is R1499. With Cool Ideas 20mbps is R1399. The problem is Openserve and not really Afrihost.

But with cool ideas you get uncapped and unshaped.
