Afrihost - Frequent Disconnects

The sync works now....For what its worth.

But I still have the sporadic disconnections.

Hi guys,

I received an SMS from Afrihost saying that the issue has been resolved. Just got home I noticed that I my connection didnt reset today while they were working on the issue. I find that a bit strange.

Anyway, I'll keep on monitoring.

Thanks again for all the help thus far.

Please keep an eye on your connection, we'll need to make sure that the issue doesn't re-occur.

I will, thanks Afrgenie.

I noticed that my sync-speed has now changed. Its 511 / 4095 kbps

A good sign (I hope)

Working from home today and felt the connection is not that great. Ran a speedtest and its not looking good. Latency not fantastic and neither is the download speed

speedtest_ah.png

1.95Mbps down :-(

Hoping its "temporary"

Tried downloading a copy of mint from Internet Solutions. That used to download @ > 400KBps on my line. It cant even get to 200KBps now :-(

I'm not seeing an active connection on your DSL account at the moment. :( Is your modem powered-on?

Thanks for checking up - you're not seeing an active connection cos I was testing with an account from another ISP.

Its much faster and practically maxing out my line....

I'll reconnect to Afrihost now

EDIT : Ok, back on Afrihost now

EDIT AGAIN : not sure what you did (if anything) , but Afrihost speeds are looking good again

Just disconnected again while I was working, this time it did not reconnect itself. Had to reboot the router. :-(

I have had exactly the same issue since December last year. Im on my fourth call now. It stays open for a few weeks and then I get an sms saying its been closed. Then I phone and open a new one:mad:

For whats its worth, Ive replaced my router, pots filter, cable from the jack to the router and I moved all electronics away from the jack and router. Its really annoying, I have about 15 disconnects a day. One of the clowns said he will be able to verify that I have an intermittent connection if I use telkom as my ISP. hahahahahaha no, GFY.

My linestats are also pretty decent.

:-( this is not very comforting.

Afrigenie/Afrifella - please advise on the way forward as my issue is not resolved.

Received a call from Telkom this afternoon asking me if the connection is fine. They said they will relook into it.

Not sounding good at all. :( Please PM me your line info and I'll look into this and the feedback from Openserve.

Sorry to hear about your trouble here, jouda. :( We're definitely not seeing any general issues along the lines of intermittency on our DSL network. Please PM me your account info and we'll troubleshoot this together.
