Do you guys have any idea why Afrihost assigns CG-NAT based IP's that are masqueraded? Are they being stingy on IP blocks? This is generally something that only Cellular or WISPs do.

I've got 6 FTTH lines with them and the last 2 were both CG-NAT IPs.

I can't find anything on the checkout or T&C that I will be assigned a masquerade based connection.

Edit: Both Octotel

@AfriGuy @Afrihost-Gian, @AfriNatic ,
you perhaps have any info on this? Your helpdesk have no clue... "restart the ONT & router"

Hey,

As you might know IPv4 are getting finished and it almost impossible to get more and if you it's crazy expensive.

We are managing the shortage with CGN. Not all clients needs a public IP so we try to keep them for the clients that need them. Also with so many FNO's which have multiple vlans per FNO we need to move IP subnets around sometimes to make sure we have public IP's available to clients when requested. One FNO has well over 20 vlans just for them so always something that changes when we move IP subnets around.

That said drop me a pm with your email and the 2 lines in question so I can remove the nat for you.
