A while I moved my adsl line over to Afrihost - it seemed like a good decision at the time. But now I've bought a new house, and I'm moving next month, and the time has come to request Telkom to relocate my phone line to the new house.

Which I do, on their website, only to find out that they can't because they don't manage my adsl line. Darn. So I email afrihost to ask what to do, and they phone me back* and explain that my line has to be moved back to Telkom, Telkom will do the move, and then I can move my line back to afrihost. Which seems somewhat convoluted, but then, we are dealing with Telkom. So they cancel my line while I'm on the phone with them, and shortly thereafter I get an email saying that (a) my line has been put into a cancellation state and they'll let me know when it's done, and (b) they require a 30 day cancellation period and line cancellations are processed at the end of the month.

Now I get worried - does this mean they'll only cancel my line at the end of June? I'm moving on the 24th and want phone service at the new house asap!

So I mail them again asking if that's what they mean, and just get a copy of the same email with points (a) and (b) again.

So now I turn to mybb for help :) When will my line be moved back to Telkom, and when can I request the relocation from Telkom again? And shouldn't they make it clearer when you move your line to Afrihost, that it will be moved back to Telkom again if you relocate?

[SUB]*why, oh why, do people phone in response to an email? If I wanted to talk to you on the phone, I would have phoned you in the first place![/SUB]

I'm currently moving house as well, and my ADSL line is managed by Web Africa.

My line is being moved back to Telkom (process started yesterday); on my Web Africa profile it shows my line is 'Awaiting Activation', but support emailed to tell me today that the line will only be moved back to Telkom today (delay is on Telkom's side). Not sure if the line status will change after that, but I will keep an eye on it.

Once the line is with Telkom, I have to reapply for relocation via website or telephonically (told this by Web Africa).

Web Africa support advised that I will still have an ADSL connection in the mean time, up until the day Telkom physically disconnects my line at the old premises. Unfortunately, due to Telkom's laziness, once the line is physically disconnected at the old premises, it can still take up to 4 weeks before I have a working ADSL connection at the new premises. According to the Web Africa support agent, my voice should be installed a couple of days after that disconnection, but then it can take up to 4 weeks for ADSL :(

Must say, Web Africa have been extremely helpful, and only called me when I didn't reply to the initial email after a few hours.

I just got an email from Afrihost saying that the line is now back with Telkom, so I re-requested the move with Telkom and got confirmation of that too :)

So it actually all worked out really well, just maybe a bit of mis-communication on Afrihost's side.
