Anyone here host with afrihost? I recently started hosting with them and it takes forever to load my site...

I checked my site on blamestella.com and the results below.

[rt]5816 milliseconds
[net]591ms
[app]4452ms
[d/l]771ms

Legend:
[rt]Response Time: is the full amount of time it took to send a request and receive a response. The sum of network latency, app latency, and download time.

[net]Network Latency: the amount of time it took to open a connect to the server being tested.

[app]Application Latency: the amount of time it took for the server to send 1 byte of data after the connection was created (aka "first byte").

[d/l]Download Time: the amount of time it took to receive all remaining data from the server (aka "last byte").

First, if it loads slow for you as a South Africa used, you should definitely open a ticket with Afrihost about this.
Seconds, Blamestella.com is in the US, it will yield somewhat higher results, but 600ms on [net] is pretty high, I would expect 340ms as the most from the US over Seacom to IS-JHB.

Now I also think your website is probably on a shared hosting server, thus it shares the server with other websites, maybe your website is just on a very crowded, overloaded server. Maybe take this time to also ask Afrihost how many other websites there are on the server your website is on, and if possible they can move it for you to a server with less websites on.
