Afrihost Letting Me Down

when you do line test in client zone is the line fine? might be telkom issue...

what is shaping policy currently, not that I think this should affect speed test

I just left Afrihost, had terrible service for the most part and they failed to address my terrible speeds and lagging (in gaming) on my 10mbps bundle I had with them.

HI Guys, I did the fix my line setting on ClientZone, Had restarted my router more than 10 times. I have complained and complained. This morning i tried to watch a youtube video that buffered for +- 2 minutes before it started.

All this problems started when i was "Upgraded". I use my line to stream contents( movies, series and news) i cant work n a ine like this

Could be something with your line. When (if it has been) was your line upgraded? I had issues after my Telkom upgrade and they have been resolved (well for now that is :D)

I have 4MB line package with Afrihost and since I moved over I have had great ADSL.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 3044 kbps (380.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 434 kbps (54.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 20 ms

I have also just streamed a mates DJ's mix and downloaded some other mixes as well at the same time with no troubles.

ALL ISPs will be terrible some time or the other. There have been posts on MyBB since day 1 complaining about ISPs, terrible speeds, do not answer the phone, do not follow up. People say they are abandoning ISP # 1 for ISP # 2 then realise the grass was not actually greener and go back to ISP # 1

IMHO it makes no difference whatever. However, if you can build a personal relationship with someone at your ISP, you will find that your issues get sorted with far more alacrity than if you just sound off here

Sometimes it is Telkom sometimes its the ISP. If you guys are paying for a bundled account the ISP should be checking with Telkom for you or have the ability to check the line speed. Guys don't get ripped off by ISPs. Get what you are paying for and if not demand it. Uncapped is uncapped. Bundles are bundles. Consumers must get what they are paying for.

Hi guys, on a different note, i had a look at openweb's after hours packages. Uncapped, Unshaped, is anyone using it and how is it.

At this moment i am thinking of going unshaped on a 2mb line. i estimate it will be roughly what i am paying or 200 more. i dont mind the extra expense as long as i dont grown grey hair with frustration trying to resolve reasons why my hulu takes 2 minutes before a video starts

So here is a funny thing. My Line Was Upgraded to 10MB yet the area that i stay in has a max of 4MB. You would think it would be faster now but its not.

AFAIK 10Mb classifies as VDSL. If so, you would need a new router to see any difference.

OP maybe your problem is your ADSL settings ie (ADSL,ADSL2 and ADSL2+) ADSL on its own has the best performance.

Check it out.
