Hi,
I joined Afrihost Mobile all positive after a relative good experience with their data products.
First month and by the 6th of the month my airtime (R158) was 'gone'!
I know for a fact I have not used it.
After numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) calls to them they have no idea what to do!
Tell me to contact MTN to get a usage history but, because it's registered as a prepaid number with MTN, MTN cannot give me this history.
I think Afrihost probably knows this but just uses it as a way to get rid of me.
I have no idea what to do anymore except go visit Telkom to see what they have to offer.
And I was so positive about Afrihost Mobile (the MTN bit should have warned me).

Why would afrihost try get rid of you? what are you using the mobile data for?

Check that you are using the aftihost apn. on some phones the apn automatically defualts back to the mtn apn after a restart

That probably went towards data.

Chewing through R158 doesn't take much doing.

Hey EvertdeJongh

Sorry to hear you haven't had the best experience here :(
Do you just have data with us, or are you signed up for our new Voice products?

What do you mean by "airtime"? With Afrihost mobile you can only load data bundles, not airtime.

The "evergreen" airtime I got with my Mobile XS has also been decreasing. I signed up this month and now only have R2.57 left. I've sent no SMSs, made no calls and bought no packages. Roaming is also turned off. Other than that, everything has been working perfectly.

My Afrihost and Personal Hotspot APNs are set to afrihost. My MMS apn is mymtn. Is this correct?

Same issue here

Loaded R37 yesterday, no use of the phone and now getting "capped" as Airtime balance is 0.

The major issue is that when you airtime balance is 0 you get knocked off the internet so cannot use your data to buy more "Airtime"

I think what is happening is that data balance is coming the "voice airtime" instead of data

I had this issue, where the APN was switching back to the MTN 'internet' APN and then using the airtime balance instead of my Afrihost data.
I fixed this by deleting the preset MTN APN.

Thanks, first time the SIM (or any MTN SIM) has been used in this phone and it automatically adds the myMTN APN.
Not very professional Afrihost.

Hi there,

I was having the same problem, try to log onto your client zone and navigate your usage and history and then your other usage, have a look what you are being charged for there.

You're confused about something here. It works like any other provider: Buy airtime to make calls, data for data.
