Someone at afrihost need to adjust their internal clock by +1 hour. "Cancel before the 25th" should mean just that, not "cancel before 23:00 on the 24th". Also noticed cancellation requests getting actioned an hour or so before the official end of the month... although I still need to confirm this.

It should mean this indeed, did you cancel a bit before and saw errors/ issues?
Around cancelation of the accounts, it's a system process that runs at midnight - shouldn't see early cancellations here.

Welcome back, I hoped you enjoyed the weekend a bit. :)

I ordered a few sims to give out to the fandamily over the holiday but while the coverage is quite fine here in Stilbaai the capacity available from MTN is not nearly enough to carry the town during these busy days so a wee bit after 23:00 on the 24th I up-/downgraded/paused/canceled the sims where needed... each one of them stated an effective date of 31/01/2014, with no noticeable errors of any kind - while I was expecting an effective date of 31/12/2013 as with the one I cancelled a bit earlier. I also received a R600+ invoice a few days later and I'm still not 100% sure why - need to go and sit down and dissect it.

Re: cancellation of accounts. I'm still looking into this, but clients of mine have mentioned getting confirmation of cancellation emails an ~hour+ before 00:00 of the new month and that these accounts in question then go all missing from the control panel once they have received these emails. I'll only be able to test this myself in January.

Hey Guys,

Great service from Afrihost - just got my second SIM :D

Anyway - I'm having a weird problem. All along, I have felt that my mifi device has had some throughput issues - as it only properly worked when in a full 3G zone. But now, using a second mifi device I bought from someone - I see that there looks to be something wrong with it.

Surely the throughput should be the same? Ive tested it 4 times on each device and the results are the same.

My old Mifi - 1Mbps - 3Mbps

New Mifi - 6Mbps - 10Mbps

This is sitting in the exact same place the entire time?

Afriguy - would this warrent a replacement (I have a protection plan...)

Hello

Are the devices the same? The difference is interesting.

Also, are you in Joburg, you could come to our offices and maybe test with our team.

:( Going to be difficult to test. Can you send a PM with your details, I'll chat with the team and find out what needs to be done or can be done.

PS: why you stressing us out on New Years Eve ;)

I can confirm this. I've unfortunately cancelled some of my accounts because I've decided not to renew my MTN contracts - which are up now. Got emails at 10:06pm and I checked while on this topic - accounts removed from the Afrihost app and no longer accessible.

Would really be sweet to get Afrihost as a standalone service or on prepaid. :( Going to miss it.

For the last 2 weeks I got pathetic speed. Download speed max out at 0.8 Mb/s and upload finish with an error. I usually got about 14 Mb/s download and 3 Mb/s upload.
Going to test this and if it does not improve I will cancel. Pity, this was the best mobile service I've used.

And different areas?

AfriGuy,

Quick question regarding the MiFi device. Is it network locked? And is there a way to restore it to factory defaults (i.e remove the AfriHost pre-configurations?

I have an iphone and the Huawei Mobile WiFi app. It all used to work perfectly but now that I have upgraded the app, for everything is requires a username and password. I have used the info from Afrihost but it does not work

Can anyone help me with this so I can get it working properly? Thanks so much
