Noticing something odd in that we are getting only 2Mbps even though the modem is position exactly the same place when we get 10Mbps+ and this tower ain't busy :p. Feels like it is artificially capped with only about 500MB data left. Oh well :D. Gonna edit after a few mins ;-)

Edit: restarted and speed bursts up to over 800KB/s downloading from a server in germany and same result. :wtf:

Hi

I upgraded from 2+2 to 3+3

On my mobile app it still shows that i have a 2+2 account despite the green bars showing 3+3 GBs of data available...

I did the same, mine changed correctly.

In Grahamstown at the moment, good MTN 3G but still no LTE.

I just took a look at the Afrihost website to see what's now on offer to new clients...

It isn't good!

1GB at R99pm - The same on a pre-pay Cell C SIM is @ R74.92pm, Vodacom @ R69pm (24 month contract) and amazingly, even MTN offer 1GB (plus 1GB night free) for just R79pm.

In fact, Vodacom offer 2GB per month for just R94pm.

With MTN offering 1GB for R20 less (plus 1GB night data free) it begs the question is... Why is Afrihost so expensive?

Hey! They even get their money up front and it's not post paid like the 'cheaper' options!!

Rookie mistake. :p Never try and kill your cap at the last minute, it's a goonshow. Do it earlier in the day or the day before. :D

Agree, I pay R149 pm for a Vodacom 3GB Topup. Have two of those.

It is becoming marginal, and if they drop the extra data then I am gone.

MTN reception is also useless.

Am not gutted tbh, just a very sly practice IF they do it on purpose :p. I have ample GBs at my disposal :).

I have yet to see a mobile provider give a rollover function with m2m options :D.

Have to agree there, It jumps from very high speed 3g to edge to nothing all the time.

Apologies if this has already been discussed (I didn't fancy reading 174 pages of comments), but is it still expected that the battery jumps from about 60% straight to about 20% (as shown here)? There was some discussion of this a while ago in another thread and an OTA fix was promised, but I'm running the latest update and still experiencing this.

(I also posted this here before I discovered this thread)

I have seen a few clients bring this up before, but doesn't seem to be a prominent issue :(
Have you chatted to Zest directly about this?

Sometimes a reboot is needed, something magical about it :p

I think we're still extremely competitively priced, remember that the double data promotion was always going to be a limited special :)

Me too - not a fan of MTN - and I can only imagine this is MTN's influence, I think come December, a lot of people will be moving away from Afrihost.

Uhm, surely if we bought the phones from Afrihost then they are our point of contact???? There are various issues with feedback from Zest, but it shouldn't be us chasing them if we bought the product from you?

Another thing, the Vodacom data carries over for the next month, which is of some value to me.

Doesn't look as if the Afrihost offering is really going to work for me.

Hello. Anybody having connection issues? My data is dead as disco. If you switch over to MTN it is fine, but when switching back to Afrihost it is dead. I have deleted the APN and recreated it as well as restarted the phone.

I'm not sure how, when all other operators have a better (i.e. cheaper) offering than Afrihost your prices can be competitive? Most other networks offer around 2GB of data for the same price (or even less) than your 1GB offering... Even MWeb are offering month to month (3G) data rates that are less than Afrihost!!

While I realise that the double data was a promotion but however, now that you have taken this away - In reality you are not competitive at all. There's not even data roll-over that is available on some other products.

The fact that you have good support etc., really is not significant as most people vote with their wallet!

Even a look at a (very) light user circa 500MB Per month:

Afrihost = R58pm or R696 per annum (excluding bank chargers - with banks charges as high as R768 pa)
Cell C = R499 per annum (one off payment)

Oxford Dictionary:

Competitive: As good as or better than others of a comparable nature.

Can you see that competitive is not applicable now?

I see Afrihost have a android app, how about adding a widget to display account usage? (For a selected account)
