Ever since Afrihost launched their mobile deals I have intended on moving to MTN once my Cell C voice contract reaches 24 months so that I can now bolt on an Afrhost apn bundle.

But now that they have eliminated their double data - their pricing for all new sign-ups is no longer anything special!

Afrihost 3GB = R197
MTN 2+2GB = R245 (BETTER VALUE AND STILL MONTH TO MONTH)
AFRIHOST 2GB = R145
MTN 1+1GB = R149 (only R4 more)

Afrihost mobile used to be amazing but now things are lukewarm. Granted the MTN bundles are temporary but they may be extended.

I am just disappointed that they have not managed to keep the amazing deals and now the offers are downriht lacklustre for those who did not lock in their deals before the July 31st cutoff.

that is 2gb day time and 2 gb night time. (mtn deals)

I know of many people like me, who will not want to wait for midnight to start a DL/skype chat etc.
bearing that in mind the AH deal is better, as many people will lose out on the MTN night time data.

for that reason I have ADSL and mobile data.

I guess we all expect them to come up with a new great-value deal by December. If they don't they'll probably slowly start to bleed customers. The time between now and December probably serves as a kind of experiment to see if people sign up for their deals without the data being doubled.

Given the fact that MTN's towers are so congested in my area, I'm also beginning to think about the alternatives. But at the moment, 6GB/month @ R197 is great.

The 24 month MTN data deals are 2GB + 2GB night for R119. Current once off / reoccurring bundles are 2+2 anytime.....

I'd go so far as to say, Afrihost are now the most expensive for new customers!

Anyone who spends five minutes doing research online before signing up will find this out...

Yet, amazingly (the spell checker just tried to insert amusingly) Afrihost seem to think their prices competitive!!

I have the feeling that the end of December 2014 will spell the end of Afrihost mobile...

The the double data deals are always hard to follow :( We already extended them once before, and have been extended again until December.
At this stage it's set to end in December, but honestly - Gian is known to pull amazing tricks so lets wait and see :)

We know it was a good deal but in fairness, if you had been offering back then what you are offering now... Your mobile customer base would be close to zero!!

You don't even have data roll-over!

As I say, your prices have not so much lost their sparkle but rather changed to a warning (expensive) red!!

Afrihost's 1GB at R99 is beaten hands down by all other networks...

Remember that Mobile was (and still is) quite a new product for us :) We always seem to start things off with a bang, who remembers R29/ GB DSL!

We want all of our products to shine, and our teams do absolutely everything to make sure that happens! The final revision is only up in December, so lets see what happens then. I'm almost certain that Gian and co have something awesome up their sleeves.

We all do! And your DSL pricing continued to plummet. With mobile you are going backwards and I can only imagine your new signups going forward must be minimal or non-existent. Only the people who locked in the double data are smiling (I paused mine until December).

I am just disappointed by the move backwards. You guys blew us away at launch but now the product is a has been without the double data.
