Afrihost more for less?

About a minute ago, I wanted to cancel my Afrihost acount. Then I see it is now 15GB for R285. All there packages are cheaper. Guess I will be staying a little bit longer now.
 
How are the speeds from uncapped vs capped? I have heard nothing but bad news from 4mb users and am looking to go from 384k uncapped to 512k uncapped

That's actually quite a good deal @ R 19 / Gb
 
Capped accounts is AH's strong point it's one thing they are good at
 
I tested a theory last night, capped vs uncapped acc
Tested the Afrihost 4mb uncapped to Rappelz server in US.. poor latency :'(

Took my Axxess Lite R19 Gig for the same spin.. world of difference..
Same with the Afrihost R29 Gig.. much better latency and speeds
 
Out of interest, I emailed Axxess when looking for a new ISP to move to from Afrihost, and Axxess confirmed that these new uncapped offerings are drastically degrading the network. Something which Afrihost refused to acknowledge to me... Axxess have apparently cancelled the shaped uncapped packages, and are no longer offering them - a step in the right direction. I'm very happy with WebAfrica though, who I joined on Sunday (their Titan Data 2 special) - I pay the same as I did for Afrihost and get over double the amount of bandwidth, and the performance is vastly superior.

Hi Steven

We actually stopped our uncapped services(the Shaped ones) because of issues on the networks and the accounts under perfoming drastically of late.You'll notice they are no longer listed on our site anymore. This is until Internet Solutions can upgrade their network which will double their capacity it can handle and they say this should be finished in 4-6 weeks.
The lite accounts are R19 for now but I'm uncertain when they are going to push the price up but it will most likely go to R25 at some point but we have not been given a date for this.
They are unshaped accounts. The prioritization during the day stays the same at night but the networks are more busy during the day which can have a slight effect but nothing major.

I was going to move to Axxess until I saw the WA specials :)
