Thanks, looks like it's okay now but I'll give it a try if it starts acting up again.Try Forcing band 8 900MHz only. See if that helps. I really am surprised that you are getting poor speeds like that especially on MTN.
Also I see you are using wifi. Try changing the wifi band in router or use cable just to diagnose.
Ok so My device got the green light, Got very nice speeds of about 20mb up/down . BUT I cannot run anything "online-game" related. Tested on all my games and they just lag to the point that some even crash. Is there a setting I'm missing?
You could try playing around with the bands to see if it improves.
What games are you struggling with?
I will try this thanks.
I have tried these games:
Wow Classic - Getting 3500 ping
LeagueOfLegends - Client not even loading menu adds/etc
Apex Legends - When Entering a match I only see a white screen then crashes
(All these games I have played in the week with no problems on my old CellC-Afrihost setup)
When I open Youtube or Talk in Discord I get no problems :/
The MTN Fixed lte sold by Afrihost runs over their own network so latency to eu will likely be slightly higher due to their routing compared to MTN direct but it shouldn't be like that.
I think they said you’re only allowed to switch towers once a year?OK, seems we'll be making a West Coast trip with the new MTN fixed LTE router and SIM next Friday. I hope we have a no hassles setup that side. We really need reliable fast internet at the holiday house and I doubt rain will ever bother with Dwarskersbos. So far they have Atlantis and Malmesbury but not even Vredenburg.
Good luck with that.OK, seems we'll be making a West Coast trip with the new MTN fixed LTE router and SIM next Friday. I hope we have a no hassles setup that side...
I don't think all MTN towers are provisioned for fixed LTE.OK, seems we'll be making a West Coast trip with the new MTN fixed LTE router and SIM next Friday. Lucky you I'm still getting nothingI was getting ready to phone axxess to tell them to shove it, but then low and behold...! Looks like the frustration may have been worth it.![]()
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that. I've luckily not canceled Rain yet.@SAV: I think somebody mentioned in one of the related threads that WebAfrica may be doing a Black Friday special on one of the Telkom LTE packages. I think I will wait for that now and either go with that or reactivate my Rain package if that is still possible.
