Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Does it make sense for it to be a coverage issue if I can see the tower and get a solid 5 bar signal all the time? The service just randomly drops without warning.

And congestion/slower speeds wasn't wasn't an issue for the entire time up until that cell ID value changed this past Monday. I'm pretty new to this so I don't really know if that change in the number has anything to do with it, it's just that the speed decrease definitely coincided with it.

These are the current stats on the router for reference.

RSRQ: -6.0dB (spikes occasionally to -12)
RSRP: -85dBm
RSSI: -61dBm
SINR: 9dB ( goes as low as 1)

Prior to the cell ID change, the RSRP value was between -79 and -81
RSRQ and SINR values were similar but without the large variations.

I've tried contacting support, and they said they'd get hold of the MTN LTE department. That was about 2 weeks ago, haven't had any feedback since. They didn't seem to really understand my issues either. I'm mostly just trying to find out why things are behaving the way they are. Specifically the random loss of service and the constant swapping between towers from midnight to 6am.

It might not be signal related but when it comes to signal or speed issues we log these requests with the MTN coverage team to assist.
 
We are not on Loadshedding now.. only tonight

If you did have loadshedding there might be an issue with the tower.

Alright. Is there any chance you can find out for me if my issues are still being looked into? I was told on the 22nd Jan they would investigate. I sent a follow up on 3rd Feb to find out if there was any update and to also inform about the sudden decrease in speed. The response I got didn't answer that question or acknowledge the speed issue so I'm not sure where things are sitting right now. Would appreciate any help if possible.

I get NO connection.. Router keeps showing "Connecting"

Then Showing "Connection failed"....

My Internet just died for no reason. Even left the Router for 10min powered off and still not connecting.:mad:

Also my Cell phone that got Afrihost Air Mobile Package gets NO internet connection.
Got Signal both on Router and Cell but No internet Connection..

We have routed traffic via CPT in the mean time.

Apologies for the issues experienced. Latency is expected to have increased until we can get the JHB outage resolved.

Is the outage only being experienced in Gauteng cos my internet also suddenly stop working and I am in Cape Town.

Hi,

Still experiencing issues? it was affecting Gauteng only but it's resolved now and there isn't any issues currently.
