Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

If you did have loadshedding there might be an issue with the tower.

We would need to log a coverage complaint for you. Please pm me your email address again so i can log this request with MTN.
Hi @AfriNatic , I’ve got a similar problem of low speeds , can you also investigate for me also ? I’ll pm you my email now

I am getting so tired of this.. Ever 2nd night since i have the Fixed LTE my speed drop totally.. Reboot Router and changing bands does not help when it happens.

It supports band 1, 3, 8 and 20. Have you tried different bands like Band 20?
Like i said.. about ever 2nd night the speeds gets so bad, then even when i try change band or reboot router it does not help... Only after midnight it get back to normal.

@AfriNatic I have 3 sims on my profile. Two of them is the "data must fall" options 250mb free and the other one just Mobile One APN. When I try to change a package I don't get a option for that 1GB free option. What am I doing wrong? Also do you need to spend R30 per number to get 1GB free on each sim or overall R30?

You need to change to the R0 prepaid package and claim the 1GB free via the app. It doesn't show the package as 1GB free.

The spend requirement is 1 x 1GB topup for R30 to qualify for 1 x 1GB free per month.

Maybe I am just confuse...but I don't have a option for R0 prepaid packages...I checked now the options.

In that case you would need to cancel them to signup for the prepaid. Please submit the cancellation and drop me a pm for me to log a Dev ticket to have the cancellations processed today.

@AfriNatic can you assist? I just received this MTN LTE router from Afrihost and this is my speed. Can you do anything ?

AfriNatic, I notice that the Archer MR600 on your list is the (EU) version as opposed to the (ZA) version.

Do you know what the differences are, and whether I'd be able to use an (EU) firmware update on my (ZA) device? I'd assume (hope!) it's only the preset APN profiles that differ?

Thanks in advance,
Christo

I think speeds are throttled at night for Afrihost Fixed LTE MTN. I have noticed and been monitoring it.

Today's speedtest results:

P.S. GMT +2 to time. So after 22:00 speeds go up again. but before that speeds are slow. During working hours it is 20Mbps. I usually get 30 - 60Mbps at normal times.

Is it throttled or is it just slower during peak hours when people are all streaming pr0nhub in 4k at the same time?

Either more people started streaming or it's throttled .. before they had that outage couple weeks ago it was stable even during peak hours.
