Afrihost Speed Test 17-12-2024_02.png

This Speed test is only When i Lock the Band to B20-800MHz .. Only LTE 4Bars..

The 10Mbps, 40Mbps was when Band on Auto and had FULL signal LTE + sign ..

But yes Thanks Looks fixed so far.. Took you only 10 min to fix my problem
and Whatsapp Support takes 5 days and just give ref nr. bla bla bla..

Afrihost!!!

I have been patience for more then 5 days, Reporting 4x times on Whatsapp already about my Fixed LTE is Throttle to 4Mbps for no reason. They keep getting the same ref and nothing gets better..

I need someone that can realy fix my problem. Whatsapp support is a joke.

Make yourself ready for years with no solution. The feedback will be that the tower is oversubscribed and to report it to MTN will make no difference and monthly you will have your debit order taken down by Afrihost like simply nothing is going wrong. Best time to work on Afrihost LTE is between 01:00 am and 6:00 am then you get "normal" speeds. They simply do not care and have no relationship with MTN whatsoever other than reselling oversubscribed services.

Afrihost I try to order purelte from website but am not receiving any email. Your WhatsApp people not helping neither

I think Afrihost have some form of relationship with MTN, through their "Air Mobile" network they setup to provision MTN SIMs (for both mobile & fixed LTE - don't know about the 5G).

Unlike Telkom LTE, whereby my understanding is that's 100% as you describe - they literally resell Telkom SIMs which don't touch their Air Mobile network.

Obviously they'd need to confirm all the above.

[I agree with you that they don't care (for the customer) if it works or not.
Going back about 4 to 5 years, I used MTN fixed through Afrihost and it was perfect for a time (45 Mbps down & up), but when I started experiencing regular, daily disconnects, there was no solution provided after I filled in an MTN questionnaire, so after 2 (more) weeks, I cancelled the service.]

Even now at 4AM Afrihost 100mbit is behaving like it's throttled. The start of speedtests (and I used several different ones but nperf tells the whole story) have a burst of 60mbit, then near instantly drops in the teens and settles on 10mbit average. I used to get 50-70mbit midnight when bands 1 and 3/8 aggregate. May as well run Bitorrent 24/7 and go over the 500gb FUP seeing as I already have the 10mbit throttle engaged lmao.

Video demonstrating the problem:

At 4:20am this morning we completed upgrades on our cross-connect links with MTN. If you are still having an issue please can you send me a pm so I can have a look at your service to see why there might be a throttle

Always good to have a vanilla MTN prepaid sim handy to swop out and do comparative speed tests. On vanilla MTN you can buy, on the MTN MoMo app, 300 MByte for R2 for 1 hour, or 1 GByte for R5.

For comparative speed tests, I have my doudt as to the usefulness of a prepaid SIM , as you are likely to connect to s different sector on the tower. So if you have issues with your sector, and related equipment. Result may very well be not directly relevant.

Can always you a app to double check or router should give you some details 1737608299162.png

But most routers don't

( Need more approved routers please)

True, but a lot of folks think speed test tells the whole story, when that is far from the truth. ISP's also lock down their routers, and remove a lot of functionality, in the process. Which can leave you with even less tools to trouble shoot issues.

Which package are you on? The Uncapped packages below 100Mbit throttle at 4Mbit when FUP is reached. The 100Mbit package throttles at 10Mbit. Sounds like it could be the exact problem I have.

Same.
Have had every excuse thrown at me:
Tower? Check.
Router? Check.
Lan Cable (why?) Check.
4G selected? Check.

The worst of all is there is zero response from them. You have to contact them to find out what is happening.
They just do not get back to you.

My favourite response was the following:"It appears that the problem is likely related to a tower issue. Such issues can typically be resolved over time, although they may not be addressed immediately."

My speedtest 2PM. My speedtests 2AM are the same.

What I usually would get midnight. This one is dated 16th December. Band 1+41. When I do a speedtest around this time it spikes to 60mbit, then climbs down almost instantly settling on 10mbit. The speed is the same via ethernet and wireless so faulty cables can be ruled out.

Found more speedtests on my phone's history. Dec 16th and 19th, 2PM and 4PM.
