Afrihost MTN LTE or MWEB MTN LTE?

As the title states....

Which one is the best as per customer service and how do their speeds differ?
Asking for a friend.He has a router and just want to get sim only?

And between those 2 companies...MTN or Telkom?

I'm Afrihost MTN. First month there were some issue but since then it has been up 99% and about 40-60 Mbps average.
Afrihost support is slow and they don't read the tickets when they respond. Besides the poor support that might or might not be helpful, I've had no issues.
 
I'm with Axxess telkom

All worked fine till mid April. Getting dns probe error issues every now and then
 
I have been using the Afrihost/MTN Pure LTE service for the last few months and I have experienced very few problems during this time. I had been using the Rain Fixed LTE service before that deteriorated to the point where it was becoming very slow and unreliable. I have been pretty happy with the Afrihost/MTN service up to now and have not really noticed much degradation due to the lockdown.
 
I am an Axxess / MTN LTE user, I had a lot of teething problems and still will have more problems during loads hedding because MTN due not maintain their towers properly and a lot of their towers do not have battery back up... But they do have a problem with battery theft with those towers that do have batteries so this is a major issue, waiting for fiber ....
 
I am currently getting speeds of around 30Mbps down and 8Mbps up. I haven't really tried to improve the speeds as I want to keep my router in a convenient location. I am sure that they could be improved if I changed the location of the router or used an antenna etc. but I am happy with the current speeds.
 
I am only using the internal B618 antennas.

This is a much better deal directly from MTN if you are prepared to sign up for a two year contract. I don't think the service is locked to one tower or a particular type of router and can be used anywhere.

**** speed during the day... can vary from 2Mbps to 10Mbps

but it works ok.

Mid April the service was terrible. The only good thing about it is being month to month, you can cancel.

At night, speeds can fly, 23Mpbs, or so...


no external antennae.. USed a B315, and now using a Xiaomi Redmi 4a as hotspot.. the DNS issues seemed less frequent on the Xiaomi

Are you using an Afrihost/Axxess/MWeb MTN Fixed LTE service or one of the Telkom Fixed LTE plans? The MTN Fixed LTE services are only supposed to work on Huawei B525, B612, B618 and ZTE MF286 routers.

Wanna go the Afrihost Pure LTE route....just wanna know if the ZTE you get with is any good....because if I can i would rather go for Huawei but don't know out of the 3 which is best for MTN...
 
Not sure about that myself. I think the ZTE MF286 uses a Qualcomm modem and processor while the Huawei routers use their own Kirin/Balong devices. I have always considered Qualcomm based cell phones to be better than the Chinese devices but I don't have any experience with ZTE routers. I would have purchased a second SIM card if I could use the Pure LTE service on a B315 but I'm not keen on purchasing another compatible router at the moment.
