Afrihost NIGHMARE

I've cancelled all doings with Afrihost. Their responses to my emails are disrespectful, irrelevant and full of lies. I promise you, Afrihost themselves haven't got a clue how the accounts they resell work, and they will send you on a merry dance for ages with promises and lies. Got myself an mweb account, would've posted here earlier but was too busy surfing the net, which is a whole new experience for me.

Now to move my hosting and family's adsl somewhere new too. I never want to speak to Afrihost ever again for any reason.

I see these accounts that are unshaped still have the FUP connected to them... WTF?

I've tried numerous uncapped accounts from various internet providers and can honestly say that the new TRL Tech accounts are quite good. Shaping has not even been implemented on their network yet meaning that all their uncapped accounts are still unshaped.

I've been with them for over 3 months now. When I've initially signed up with them, they were still using IS bandwidth. During July they've switched over to Cybersmart bandwidth. You have to transfer your adsl circuit to them but in turn they give you a rebate on the adsl rental. Where Telkom ask R413 for a 4MB adsl circuit, TRL's price is R385. Last month I've downloaded over 227GB without any complaints from them!

Unlike other internet providers, they do not throttle your adsl account when reaching a certain amount of usage. Instead they monitor your usage over a 3 month period and advises you that your usage is to high etc. On the 6th month they'll move you to the next package if your usage is still the same after their notification to you. But as I've said, they have NOT implemented shaping yet and all their uncapped accounts are currently unshaped and therefor the FUP does not apply at this stage.

TRL also gives you the best value for money when it comes to web hosting. About a week ago I've received an e-mail from them indicating that they've added more features to their web hosting and reseller hosting packages which include RV-SiteBuilder and Softaculous Pro. For the entry level package of R30 per month, which includes 3GB disk space and 30GB bandwidth, I'd say that they are offering pretty good deal. I've saw that they even give a 100% uptime guarantee.

I'm very happy with their services and would recommend them to anyone who wants excellent service without costing an arm and a leg. Just my 2cents.

Agreed, 100 % improvement on MWEB, OpenWeb and IS - however can't quite understand why others are so reluctant to utilise their service - maybe better that way, lol ;-)

It's like almost everyone on this forum goes with "follow the leader". Most people are complaining about M-Web and providers who are using IS bandwidth and yet they still continue to support them by utilising their services. In my opinion M-Web and IS bandwidth is over-priced and they under-deliver. Anyone who use them for internet access and are "happy" with their k@k service are not using their adsl account properly :D

I just cancelled my capped accounts and my uncapped account with them, do not want to deal with such a company again.

Back to Telkom ISP for now and then mweb for the heavy stuff.

Hmm Telkom actually works out cheap,,,, but they block certain important websites... Afrihost on the otherhand works perfectly. Thanks Afrihost !!

I have both capped and uncapped packages from Afrihost and I have not had a single problem , on the rare occasion that I have had to email there support team I have always goten a response in under an hour.
I understand the frustration people have when they have a bad experience with any company or service. But remember for every one complaint there are a thousand people who would beg to differ, this doesnt ring true with all companys however.

The 3 for one special still is on.

Who said their pricing was unsustainable again?

Anyway, something big this day comes from AfriHost....

I also used to be with Afrihost, but have since repented. My apologies to the universe and to Karma for ever giving money to this company...

they move me to IS also
since then it is nightmare!!!
take me so long to load a website and sometime it wont even open the page... feels like i am using those old ass 56kbps internet again
planning to cancel my account now

LOL. Actually meant, how do you FIND it? in other words, is it good, reliable, fast, etc. Shot
