It's getting really tiresome having to modify DNS entries every so often to access camera/HA while away.

Has anyone managed to get a static IP with Afrihost on Octotel?

Unfortunately, we do not offer a static IP with Octotel.
Have you used the build in DDNS?

Try cloudns - I use it on a raspberry pi with the wget command in a cron job.
