Hi,

I'm going to pull the trigger on this, I think. However, I see that it is subject to Shaping on both Streaming and P2P etc "during unusually congested periods"

Has anyone experienced this? What is "unusual"? How bad is the shaping?

I'd happily give the 8mb a bash to test 1080 Netflix.

However, I can only get so far on the order page. The 'next step' button which would take me to the customer details page just doesn't work.

Strangely, it works on other packages, just not the 8mb/5mb
 
Ok. It was a problem on the site.

Their WhatsApp chat is amazing. So much better than trying to keep a dialogue window open on my phone's browser.

Anyway, she place my order for me on WhatsApp. Free DIR-825 WiFi router at R999. Delivery within 3-5 days. I'm taking the Openserve Uncapped 8mb/5mb @R399. If this works without buffering on 1080p, this is really cheap for uncapped fibre.

Will report back.
 
Pretty sure after 1 or 2 1080p movies you'll be throttled to hell and gone at that price... but should be an interesting experiment i guess.
 
Ok so here we go. Day 1.

They were ready to install the day after I ordered, but I was out of town.

Subbed, I would really like a capped account but unfortunately it starts from 10Mbps and not 8Mbps.

Please continue to provide feedback.

I am completely over the Rain network. Good time for almost two years but the last 2 weeks it's unusable.
 
Ok. 1 week in. So far so good. 400gb used and still going strong.

Streaming 1080p no problem.
Streaming 1440p occasional stutters.
Streaming 2160p umm no.

uTorr Down @ Constant 900KB/s day or night
uTorr Up @ +/- 400KB/s (wasn't paying too much attention)

How much of the 400GB so far is during "normal hours"? I am thinking of moving to this package, but scared of the FUP that kicks in at 100GB on the 8mb package.
 
Last day of the month.

Speed unchanged. 900KB/s Down . 400-500KB/s Up. 1.2TB total usage.

uTorr speed is consistent day and night. I'm hovering around 300-400KB/s Down with uTorr at the moment because I'm watching YouTube on the TV simultaneously.

Let's see if they hammer me next month. So far, best decision I've ever made.
