Hi all
I'm in the process of attempting to get a fiber connection (in Port Elizabeth) activated. The provider in the area is Openserve, but my ISP is afrihost.
The flat's previous tenant used a fiber package from telkom, and, it would seem, he left all the infrastructure intact upon moving out. (there's a fiber cable, some sort of Huawei box it is plugged into, and another cable coming out of it).
However, after ordering the package through afrihost, I was informed that openserve must install the line.
I opened a ticket and was told that this is normal, and openserve must do a site inspection. Unfortunately, I have received no further information, and the website is abysmally unhelpful.
After doing some investigating it would seem that choosing Afrihost may have been a mistake. I'm now on the fence as to whether I should risk a 6 week wait, or if I should just cancel my package with afrihost, and try a different, better more speedy provider (also something I'd appreciate advice on).
Any advice?
