So I upgraded my line last month to a 40/20 line, a r900 fibre package from the r399 cheapest on I was on to get more bandwidth in this period.
It has been a terrible month. with speeds not even reaching 10mbs and sometimes non existing around 1mbs.

When I asked them to put me back on the r399 package, I was told it had been "cancelled" and the cheapest one is now r597. Hows that for a hidden price increase.

I will be moving to the r597 package for lack of service and will be cancelling as soon as I get a chance after this lockdown.

What a terrible terrible Fibre ISP. All these crooks sell you packages where they dont deliver the speeds you pay for.

Have you contacted them? The R399 package has a speed limit apposed on the account to limit it to 8Mbps on a 10Mbps line.

It could be that the upgrade only upgraded the line to a 40/20 line but the pppoe account was still limited to the 8Mbps.

This is something support needs to investigate and fix and if there is a fault credit accordingly.

Secondly the R399 package has been discontinued because of the changes to Openserve IP Connect. This has seen ip connect prices lowered but raw line rental fees increased. The R399 price would therefore not be financially viable at all as it won't cover the line rental. Afrihost discontinued that package allowing existing clients to stay on that but package changes or new clients can not signup or migrate to that package again.
