Since Afrihost's changeover to the MTN network I've experienced sporadic problems to log on to their services through a PPPoE connection.
It start with a message that the modem or router is not responding or that a unsupported network protocol is used. After that it fails with the username and password cannot be verified.

ps. The connection works perfectly when connected.

Afrihost has been on the MTN network for ages already - Are you talking about since the buyout from MTN?

If so, it's a known issue that authentication has been a bit buggy recently. The cynical side of me wants to attribute it to MTN being the problem, but it could just be that they are reaching some kind of hard limit on their authentication software, and are busy trialing new ways to auth.

Thanks bullzeye.za. Yes I was referring to the MTN takeover. I wasn't aware that Afrihost had authentication problems; nothing I can do about it then.

I was unable to authenticate from about 19:30 last night, everything was fine then suddenly I got locked out, don't know what time it was sorted but I was back online when I woke up this morning

There was an issue with authentication sometime last week and Monday if memory serves

Is anyone experiencing slow account verification since yesterday?
Mine changed from instantaneous to a minute or more.
