Afrihost Prepaid R15

I just switched from Axxess Uncapped Express to Afrihost 15Gb per month. My uncapped usage normalised to approx 15Gb, when the need arises I'll just buy more. R899 vs R285. :)
 
Nice, I always preferred capped over uncapped. Lots of people are being caught for sheep when buying uncapped, your pc steals so much of your life already, you don't need to spend more time sitting at your pc waiting for downloads to finish because you're being shaped down to a crawl.

Unshaped Capped DSL is the only way to go (for us 4mbit users). This way you can actually get your hands on something you've downloaded within 10-30 minutes rather than have to go to work or take a nap and by the time you get back you've lost interest or forgotten what / why you've downloaded.

This is just my personal opinion. Hope there are others who might share this point.

i bought an axxess lite 1gb account as backup today, just to see what speeds i get..
i have a 6mb line and i was averaging 620 kb/s !

it was great to see my line at full potential.
 
As a side-issue :

Anyone with a FREE 1GB Afrihost account having problems right now ? - I'm able to log on (have over 900MB's left for the month), but unable to receive packets - first time it's happened.
Suspect it might have something to do with this special. Anyone know any more on this ?

Zactly! Uncapped accounts are shaped so badly it doesn't make a sense anymore. I have 50GB from AH which covers my daily connection to Second Life (~600MB/day) plus some movies and music downloads from the pirate bay. If I need more it's just a few click to order and activate addditional gigs for R29/GB. But the best thing about capped is that the line always works on full speed, no questions asked. So until SA will get a real internet this is the only way to gain halfways the experience of broadband as it's supposed to be.
 
Dudes can I buy these at like PnP or Engine garages too?
 
nice!!!! Just bought 7 Gigs for R105, do you guys know if this is shaped or unshaped??
 
Unshaped R15 per gig? Might just start getting this instead of having Shaped Uncapped.
 
I have an Afrihost capped account running at LINE speed. My LINE speed's capacity is +- 250KB/s but I would rarely get 80KB/s. My Axxess uncapped express account however consisently kicks hiney, I don't get up to 250 but on average it's throughput is higher than Afrihost's. Strange, they are both IS controlled, there must be some other controls involved.
