Have been an Afrihost customer for a long while now. Never had issues before, but lately it seems that they have started even shaping their Priority customers. I stream from a Plex server which we have exclusive access to in Europe, and it is only watchable during late hours in the evening.

My online gaming pings are also up and down recently. Nothing to make it unplayable, just uncomfortable. Anyone on this package having shaping issues?

I thought their shaping didn't affect streaming?
Maybe test with another ISP to see if you can replicate the issue, or run a traceroute.

All done. Don't know anyone else who has access to that server who also uses Afrihost so cannot replicate the problem 100%, but everyone that I know uses it do not have any issues. So it is definitely not a host issue. The problem resolves itself late at night which talks to potential package policies applying at certain times of the day.

Netflix and other streaming services run perfectly. I think that their DPI somehow identifies the traffic as something else than streaming, which then means the traffic to this server is prioritised differently. This however is not what was sold to us.

I suspect that the Afrihost network is getting congested, hence why we are seeing more shaping (even on unshaped products).

Is it not congestion in your area?

How can it be congestion in my area if streaming to other sites is 100% fine? Localised congestion on Afrihost's network would impact all other traffic types.
