I'm looking to sign up for a Rain LTE-A package so naturally I started looking around at various resellers (Afrihost, Mweb and Crystal Web).

The packages are all the same price at R549 (55GB + 55GB) but the router costs are as follows:

Afrihost: R2499 (upfront)
Crystal Web: R2195 (upfront)
Mweb: R1599 (payable in 6 instalments - interest free)

As a long standing Afrihost client, I'm bitterly disappointed in this discrepancy for the same product. It would obviously be convenient to go with Afrihost so I can group all my products together, but this is just silly that they are pricing themselves out of the market and forcing people to look at their competitors.

Webafrica is R1799 and ignite is R999. Ignite had such poor reviews and afrihost was the only one who never required a callender months notice to cancel provided you cancel before the 25th that I'm still thinking of going with afrihost despite it being most expensive. No credit checks with afrihost either if that's a factor.

The stresss point this LTE is.. ONCE you choose your provider it's hard to switch. Or you must buy the router again.
It's not as easy as having your adsl line with telkom and just changing your data bundle to another provider.

I would say Mweb has the best deal at the moment with their modem and data.
Speedwise: Does it matter which provider you have as everything is with RAIN anyway?

If you were with mweb and cancelled today , because of their terms and conditions, the cancellation would happen at the end of September. If you were with afrihost and cancelled today , the cancellation would happen at the end of august. So the amount you save with the router by going with mweb today will end up the same at the end of the day with the extra month you have to pay when you cancel.

Exactly.

Or, if you have only Mweb data, you can lower your data to the lowest available and you just pay R79 for a mb/s line of the month you cancelled.

Canceled my line with Mweb after asking twice, took them 3 months to 'cancell' it and send my an email to say it has been canceled. 2 months later they gave me over to Dept collectors because I'm not paying my mweb line.

Eish... rather go webafrica or Afrihost then ... <I know webafrica is quite good with their billing goodies>

I too am a customer of Afrihost for many years. I applied for the Rain LTE-A package with the order sitting with the couriers since the 11th October 2017. My colleague already received his yesterday and he ordered a day after I did.
So I turned to support for the first time in a while to inquire about this:

To my surprise the Live chat does not work, no answer to support mail, the call back feature does not work and no response on the ticketing system. There is a limit to loyalty I think. The service was never this bad.

I think it is time for a change.

I have used support I think last week, waited about 10-15minutes but it was very useful. Seems like their response time is what is killing them at the moment.

Possibly...

I get the feeling they are avoiding my question on purpose. I am waiting now 48 hours plus for a response. Submitting a ticket from the control panel shows up and I get confirmation to my e-mail. When I look at my submitted tickets at a later stage, it is not there anymore. Clicking on Live Chat - unavailable for the last 2 days and urge you to send your query to support mail. (Did - twice) Request a call back - same thing. Just not available.

I guess I am just tired of bad service or those that leave their loyal customers in the dust. (I am pretty much with Afihost for a good 6 years + now and had nothing but praise for them in the past )

A couple of people have complained about the tickets disappearing. Something to do with another department and a bug. I wonder why they don't fix it.

Yeah also waiting here on another one of those free B618 routers.

Is there any shop that sells the B618 router at a reasonable price as Afrihost does not have stock at the moment?
