Afrihost robbing clients?

Yep also find their stats dodgy. Using SASA, The total amount downloaded / uploaded is always less than the amount that they have calculated on their website.

I've had similar issues with them as well. End of the day it's best to find another ISP. Their service levels are shocking.

Cut your losses and find another ISP...that is what most of us did. They should stick to hosting websites and leave ADSL to the big boys.

Only problem is this kind of thing happens EVERYWHERE. Currently I'm going through ISPs like newborns go through diapers and not one stacks up. Usage monitoring is a ghastly affair with all service providers, because none of them can really tell you where that usage has gone to. Uncapped is all good and well, but for someone who uses less than 5GB per month on a 348kpbs line, it is overkill. I am however completely and utterly dependent on having an internet connection at all times. I am a self-employed journalist and deliver all my work through the web. I also do all my research online.

I eventually gave up on Afrihost (quite sad really since they started the whole price war leading to affordable bandwidth) and went back to MWEB (who, even though, they, in all honesty, had been gouging me for almost a decade - I still kept my email address active - so I was paying Mweb for email address and Afrihost for bandwidth and still came out cheaper than Mweb only).

Unfortunately for Afrihost, once uncapped hit, their service just went down the tubes and Mweb's uncapped looked very attractive.

I've been back with Mweb for two months now and am pretty happy - it's such a relief to not have to worry about a CAP any longer.
