Afrihost uncapped is bull****. I was throttled to unusable level after 20 Gig this month without even an e-mail advising me. Here I was onto Telkom because the line is slow. 5 calls later - Telkom has to send a techhie. I'm onto Syware/Hijackthis to kill the virus/worm/bug that's eating my bandwidth.
Guess who is the **** in the septic tank - AFRIHOST!!!!!!!!!

We've got Afrihost uncapped at work = I'm not moaning.

freedom123 I doubt it. What does trace route say? I bet it says that Internet Solutions (IS) is the culprit.
chrissy, "at work" means it is a business account. I suspect they are treated differently.

LOL... You still with Afrihost?

Have you not read the pages and pages and pages and pages of complaints about them?

I'm surprised people are still buying Afrihost uncapped? I jumped ship when they announced that shaping months ago and never looked back! There are so many better providers out there!
It might be IS or Afrihost, I'm not making any speculation as to who it is, just questioning why you still with Afrihost?

Yeah, I would also not be around if I teased off so many customers..... I see myself as a average bandwidth user +- 25 GB a month on my 384 account! I've been throttled since the 16 Sept to 5kbps and my usage was only 14.722GB. It is not fun browsing the net because it take forever just to open a web page. The fair usage policy has changed so many times I'm not even sure he knows what the correct policy is! Afrihost was such n nice company before they joined the price war .... they have ZERO credibility left!

Suggestion before slinging mud - wait for Telkom to fix their boo-boo first before trying to accuse afrihost of a slow line over which they have no control.
Have you tried another [fixed cap] account from another ISP to see if there's a difference yet?

I don't think it was either Afrihost or Telkom. The clue is in the opening post:
I'm onto Syware/Hijackthis to kill the virus/worm/bug that's eating my bandwidth.

its been how many months since afrihost offered uncapped? and there have been countless threads about the throttling, I have no pity for the OP (or anybody else who complains)

The problem I have, being an Afrihost 384 uncapped customer, is the continuous amendment of their FUP.

What he's saying in a very bad way, is that he thought it was Telkom, so blasted them ... it wasn't them. Then he thought it was Malware - it wasn't that. Then he found it it was Africhop that had throttled him for reaching 20gb's.

wow you can understand that? there may be paid work for you bro!

Also feasible and probable, especially with the FUP and now the migration to IS managed accounts!

There's a place and time for capped and uncapped accounts.

I'll stick with my 3Gb capped account for now until the market sorted itself out and you can get uncapped without all the shaping and other fun stuff.
