So lost my SIM(still had 1.8gig on it:cry:) on Friday, now if i want connect they tell me i have to cancel my SIM and purchase a new one but i won,t get my remaining data and when i tried to purchase another package with my account i noticed that i won't be getting that sweet double data deal:cry: which led me to signing on with them. WHAT about SIM swap. MARA WHY AFRIHOST MARA WHY?
can someone suggest an alternative?

PM Afriman. He'll probably be able to help you out with a replacement sim card. But if you lose your data (1.8GB) because you only get your new sim by next month, that is probably not their fault, right?

I'm guessing it will remain. Hopefully they will just replace the physical sim without changing your account, which already includes the double data.

I'm just guessing here though. Afriman will be able to give you a definite answer.

I cancelled my afrihost mobile some time back and wanted to reactivate it after a few months just before we went away for the weekend. They told met hat the sim had been cancelled (not suspended) and that I would have to apply for a new sim card which would have to be shipped to me and would only be available in a few days. So much for being green, I'm sure the world can do with a few thousand extra sim cards just lying around.

End result is I couldn't be bothered to get a new sim from Afrihost.

I have heard them say that a sim for which the data has been cancelled can't be reactivated. But the funny thing is that I did just that. There were a few months for which I received no data on the sim that came with my MiFi. When I again signed up, I asked that an existing sim be provisioned and supplied the number. It worked without any issues.

there are already many millions of unused sim cards lying around.

buying a phone cash - must take a starter pack
phone got stolen - sp sim swap and thief chucks the old one.
you forget about a spare prepaid sim - it expires, number gets recycled.

many reasons for many sims....
