Hi there,

I've had the most frustrating and pathetic service between Afrihost and MTN.

About 2 weeks ago (if not longer) I tried to add the 2 gig mobile data package with Afrihost for my MTN sim. I went through the whole process with Afrihost. Then get a "we are unable to provision your sim" email.

Firstly Afrihost checked the wrong cell number, then once I corrected them, I still can't get my sim provisioned.

I've had my MTN contract for 5 years, it's postpaid Anytime200 and should work. I've contacted MTN twice and they say it should work.

Each time I email afrihost, they say they've escalated the problem, but I get no feedback unless I bother them.

Anybody had the same problem?

That definitely does not sound like something we want to happen at all.

Could you please send me a PM with your account details so that I can look into this for you.

Not quite the same but the MTN support was ZERO.

I bought the MTN dongle and SIM and according to the MTN map am in an LTE area. The best I could get was EDGE. I tried different PC's in different rooms without success and then sent it all back. No credit was ever given.

Vodacom is my emergency backup now and that does work well.

Something similar with the Afrihost "Netgear 2+" router which I was told would work at 20Mbps. Not a chance and I had to buy another VDSL router which does work and gets to 20Mbps.

I voted with my feet and have quit Afrihost after the recent "pay more for stuff I don't want" emails. I tested W-A for 6 weeks and all is well both operationally and from support.

There are no VDSL compatible Netgear routers available from retailers as far as I'm aware.

And yes, you can get 20MB on that Netgear using ADSL2+.

I am also very disappointed with the Afrihost help and service. I have bought a new sim and checked if it could be provisioned. It was confirmed it can. I tried the WA help and the guys just could not or would not help me solve the issue. Now I checked and the message says the sim card could not be provisioned by MTN. Who knows who can help me fix this issue because Afrihost help sure doesn't want to help after I have paid them in full and it has cleared my account....

Hello. Please send me a PM with your email address so I can check the Provisioning error.
