Still not going good on Business uncapped "unshaped"

Capture_zpsbd34ee77.jpg

Thanks for the heads-up. i was thinking of moving to the business uncapped. I think its because of heavy users moving ship recently from MW to AH. I may be one of them but then again they promise to provide certain service and so they should.

What the is the expect average on a 1Mb account p/day.
When I switched last month 22/23rd i got around 6gigs on avg p/d.
Please dont quote that +250 on AH "leaderboard".

Now as from Oct with heavy shaping, i think i'm getting about 3.5 gigs p/d.

Some stats from fellow users would be great. and again thanks for the heads up. dont want to pay 100 bucks more for nothing.

cheers

Ok I am really starting to get worried now. This is my current download speed...
Shaping Policy: No Shaping Applied

I am really starting to lose patience with AfriHost..

Hey Type RSA - That doesn't seem to be the account at fault as it is working perfectly until it hits Google's servers. My account is running at full speed so I doubt your slow business account has anything to do with shaping. What you could do is type this into cmd and post the results after letting it run for a bit. Leave it for about 10 minutes and paste the results to pastebin.

ping 105.236.3.1 -t

There is nothing wrong with my exchange... :)

Hmm... then I cant help anymore :/

I have no idea what could be causing those speeds, try disable your firewall [-]and DMZ your router to your IP[/-] and see if that makes a difference

Haikona! That's very bad advice.

Hi Afriman

Day 7 of 24/7 shaping! even on a Sunday.
You mentioned that the shaping is very light except for Gauteng.
I am in Durban and still being shaped.

Why am I still being shaped?

I can understand that shaping will always be around but for 7 solid days of 24/7 shaping.
I find that to be Ridiculous.

If this kind of service continues i will have to look at another ISP as this is getting too much.

Can I use my afrihost details at a friend's place to test his connection? He is with another isp

You can, but uncapped accounts are limited to one specific phone line at any given time. You'll need to contact Afrihost for them to lift the default lock.

All well on my 4mb vanilla uncapped since Thursday, everything preforming as it should.

Anyhats I have a theory about why our connections went for a ball of poopoo. I think Afrihost has increased their capped accounts by a large margin and them users would like to finish their cap before the end of the month.

I just want to make sure I understand the Afrihost shaping policy completely. All accounts remain completely unshaped until the network comes under pressure. When this happens all home uncapped accounts are shaped to some degree, depending on the usage patterns of the specefic account. The reason I am asking this question is because a lot of users seems to experience this differently.
My account is usually unshaped between 12 at night and 8 in the morning, while a few users on the forums seems to be shaped 24/7 for the last week.
Two weeks ago, even before the ios update and the gta update I was expereincing the exact same issues as well, but it seems to have dissapeared since then. I think were all the confusion is coming in is in the fact that not all users are sharinb the same experience, and it does cause quite a bit of frustration for everyone involved. Surely if the network usage has spiked over the last week, everyone should be affected, although to a lesser degree on your shaping policies.
If someone could still be unshaped dependimg on their usage pattefn I think that should be confirmed as well. A bit more claritynon what could cause someone to beshaped so badly would also help some people at least know why their account is being affected so badly while others are having no shaping applied. According to the reps this is not usaged based, so I am sure it causes a lot of confusion for everyone as well.
My last comment to the reps would be this. If shaping only comes in when the network starts seeing heavy traffic, it does seem a bit strange that my account gets unshaped at 12 and shaped again at 8. This could be my perception, because I base it one downloads I leave running over nigjt. It starts picking up at almost exactly after 12 and starts slowing down at 8 in the morning. It does seem a bit strange from my perspective that the network would fluxuate at exactly those times.
I think if some of these issues could be clarified, everyone could at least know where they stand currently with their Afrihost accounts. I understand the recent usage on the Afrihost network was unexpected, but currently it feels like many of the forum users are just getting more confused and frustrated as time goes on.

It does not depend on the usage pattern on the account.
