Yet are still more expensive that several other players in the market.

Out of 6 providers, Afrihost now provides the 2nd worst value for money.

I'll wait until January and if it hasn't dropped further then i'm jumping ship.

You can move, but just remember - you will loose quality too! For example, if you go now to Axxess, you will be shaped after a very short amount of data usage due to the mass of clients which have just joined them. Those comparisons are literally comparing apples and banana's in terms of the products compared. There is a reason Afrihost is not lowering their prices further.

Wait what?! :erm: 118.8 KB/sec on a 4MB line? You should be getting like 300-400KB/s

The speeds you're getting are just barely acceptable for a 2MB Line.

So from what i can briefly read everything still seems bad on uncapped...

Guess i will have to stay on my 100gb account.

I really want to move back to uncapped, but if i can barely hit 100gb on uncapped i dont see the point.

Latency too high, there is something wrong with your connection :(

Heavily shaped at the moment and this after a week of the best connection I've had since joining Afrihost.

T.......we think that December will be better when businesses go dark over the holidays and then hopefully Telkom will deliver our full capacity upgrade as early as possible :)

I'm pretty sure there are others.

You still believe them?

I'll believe them when my 10Mb account can download at full speed after 8pm again everyday and not at 30kB/s

I don't really know what to believe anymore. Perhaps I simply held onto that promise out of some misguided optimism.

Before someone comes along and says it was never a promise. Let me make a correction. ..held onto the suggestion.

What really bugs me is how the shaping is always ridiculously extreme. If the network is congested then surely 10-20% shaping should be enough to bring it back under control. Yet right now my P2P downloads are slowed by 94%. Afrihost is either flying for me or slow as hell. Never seems to be any middle ground.

What concerns me is whether the new capacity will even be enough to make an improvement or if it's simply a bandaid.
If I think back then all of Afrihost's responses here have been that it SHOULD, no real certainty. I don't even think they're 100% sure that anything will be resolved come the new year.

Things were bad when I first joined but they got some new capacity and then said Cape Town didn't need to be shaped any more. Things were pretty smooth since then, especially the past week. Did something change? I only visit here when I have issues so am unaware if things have taken a turn for the worse.

I'm the same and can only speak for myself, but it has for me. It was terrible then when they got the provisional capacity it was great but seems to be falling apart again.
