Good lord that's insane. I'd hazard a guess that you need to contact Telkom and log a fault on your line. Most likely an exchange related problem.
 
not sure if this is the right place, but just received my invoice today and see that i am charged R697... will that go to the R597 as advertised on the website??????

Sorry to say man, but there is something seriously wrong with the connection between the PC and the exchange. Those pings in the second hop should be around 10ms :(

Contact Afrihost support and/or Telekom support and report a fault

First want to say thank you Afriman and the rest of the online Afri team for there excellent service towards this forum. You guys are doing an amazing job. Well done! Secondly, your network is top notch and very thought out compared to many competitors which I won't share on this forum however, lots of other ISP's are behind you. Your prices are not as great as competitors but your network and the way it's handled makes up for it 110% You no.1 ISP as of date. I believe you will stay that way and hopefully don't become like the previous ISP I was with, terrible service and soft caps and extreme shaping on certain protocols. It was ridiculous. On a positive note I'm ecstatic being with you guys, I heavily believe Afrihost is the best for now, keep it up! :) :) I'm on a 1 Mb uncapped package.

Agreed, Telkom will have to sort you out depending if your line is with them :)

+100. I know sometimes people have issues - but they always seem to be sorted out in the end :)
 
Flawless Afrihost performance for the last two months. Guess I might as well unsubscribe from this thread as it's working so well.

To think that Telkom sorted my exchange congestion within 2 weeks of the problem being reported, I even upgraded my uncapped to 2Mbps to match my line speed. I'm in Internet heaven. *touch wood*
 
Ok this is very strange. After those extremely poor Traceroute results, I managed to switch from Uncapped bundle to a capped one, and suddenly everything returns to normal? How is that possible? :confused:

Its not.... uhmmm - maybe when you restarted your modem, it resynced on a different port at the exchange? Not likely though... as ports dont change by themselves :D Maybe it was incredibly good timing

I take that back. It seems to have been a coincidence. The line is very erratic and unstable. I spoke to AfriHost support and they told me it's not syncing correctly. Port recreate perhaps?

Try telling afrihost support to get telkom to change your port, not just recreating it :)

After numerous line stabilizations performed by AH support, things seem to be better now. (Touchwood). Hoping it stays this way. :)
