Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

We aren't though, that's why we've had to implemented shaping - to ensure our network runs as smoothly as possible.
New capacity is already on it's way - we just don't have an ETA on this yet.
Don't suppose you can tell us how much capacity per IPC you're adding, for curious-minded people out there? Kinda figured since you posted your current IPC capacities on your website that you might want to share the extra ordered capacity as well :P

So you are hitting the "ceiling" . Time to raise the ceiling higher or say goodbye to customers...

That is exactly what they doing, they are bringing more bandwidth online, this takes time, and is not their fault. Maybe you guys should start venting your anger at Telkom pls. The reason they have to run on a knife edge with IPC capacity is simply because of IPC costs! Every way you look at it as a ISP you can't afford to have excess IPC capacity. So pick one --- Have uncapped at the prices you have now and suffer the occasional hiccup, or two pay more.....so who is willing to pay more ?

I'm afraid I can't give you the exact details, however we are hoping to see this ease shaping for our clients and provide a much better overall experience :)

This is a case of under-planning and over selling.... When I test with other ISP I don't have any of this issues....

Not now, but history tells us every ISP goes through this at some time

We do monitor our network closely, it was never the intention to over sell. That's definitely not the way we run things :)

So. If you planned properly and monitored your network ( as you say you do ) you should not have accepted my purchase order for an uncapped account 2 months ago or the subsequent upgrade to business uncapped a few days ago if you could not deliver a proper service to me.

No need to to dig deeper...

We really wish it was easier than this :( The amount of time, resources and processes that go into running an IPC of this size does take a considerable amount of time.
We looked at a lot of options previously - while we definitely do plan, the uptake was a bit above our expectations.

Moving on though, capacity is on it's way :) We'll have more feedback and a possible date a bit closer to the time.

So, not tomorrow then? :(

Capacity won't be live tomorrow unfortunately. As soon as we have some confirmed dates with MTN we'll do our best to have them posted here.
Gian and the team as well as the MTN directors are pushing as hard as we can to have the capacity pushed up live :)

So, Monday perhaps...? :D Forums really don't convey facetiousness well...

Haha, easy now ;)
If there was a magic button I could push, I would have done it today! Lets see what happens next week. I need to get a better timeframe before I can commit to a date.

I really suspected this much when we moved to the MTN backbone. This is a very sad situation we find ourselves due to loyalty. We get screwed all the time. We complain all the time but never move our business elsewhere. Afrihost has screwed for damn six weeks and I'm going nowhere. So far nobody came close to their service and I still hope they will get back their best service levels. For the time being, let me search for 56Kb modem. I might get better speeds.

Everything's been (mostly) fine for a year since the MTN move... Near 50 weeks of a-OK service measured against 5-odd of crap.

I say massively reduce IPC costs :) then everyone is happy, users and ISP's alike

so third day in a row my internet has been crap, could not even jam some battlefield 3 now, two steps forward one step back... on 10mbps bundle? eish something is not lekker...

No one from afrihost has let me know whether telkom has come out yet or not, where can I follow up?
