Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

I created this account just to bitch at you guys. I cannot even open Gmail this morning. Your own clientzone won't load. There are no problems or congestion at my exchange - and no its not a Telkom issue. I'm in CPT.

I couldn't take it anymore. Two days of non stop shaping. Right down to 1kb/s. I've moved to another ISP and now downloading at 460Kb/s constant. Very happy with them so far!

Must say lines have been bad since monday, even worse since yesterday and terrible this morning.

Don't understand, Afrihost has always been stable for me but this last week is terrible - shaping is on 24/7 and now Google services are so unresponsive I'm struggling to send emails - Local sites seem fine though

#edit - browsing seems better now, even though shaping still continues.
Have had about 3 hours of unshaped service in 48 hours now.

:(

The shaping on our side has been a bit more aggressive than normal for our Uncapped users. There were multiple major updates pushed through for iOS, OSX and Xbox One, which did result in increased demand on our network.

Your real-time services shouldn't have been affected though. How is your streaming at the moment?

So right now I'm apparently Turbocharged and not shaped. Downloading from the Afrihost news server has averaged 1.3kB/s over the past 20 minutes. Something is seriously wrong.

Ye, they'll keep mentioning major updates though and not look at fixing it. If I'm still shaped after 1am, which has been 3 days now, I'm cancelling.

And by shaped I mean having my gaming, youtube and downloads all in their moer in.

Realtime services feel responsive now, although only about 2mb's on a 4mb's line - never goes past 50% of capacity

Glad it's looking a bit better, not sure if your slow speeds are due to a line issue though :(
Have you run any troubleshooting with our team?

I haven't had any issues I am in Durban of course I am being shaped but in terms of online performance my wow latency was 189ms last night and my download speeds for http are where they should be

Well we have 2 - 4mb's lines and I have tried our backup account with another ISP and line peaking at 3.8mb's with them, Afrihost at 2.1 mb's max atm.

So if it was line it would have been on only one line.

That's true, weird you're seeing such low throughput with us though. Can you replicate the problem with our 1GB free account?

Hi Afriman, must say the feedback on this thread is making me a tad worried hey.

Besides that I have to speak to my new housemates about costs though before I make a decision.

If I do come back to afrihost i would like to take the bundled 10mbps uncapped account. Which would be the best way to go about this to avoid being double charged (paying telkom and afrihost for my line). Also I need to move during the course next month and I would like to time it in such a way that my internet is working once I get there. Any recommendations? Wait till I get there and have had telkom move my tel and dsl line and then get the bundle or get the bundle first and have them move my telephone line?

I still think the best way to make a decision is to try something first hand, and make a choice from there :)
We're aware of the queries in the thread, and I can promise everyone that it isn't going unnoticed.

No problem, don't mind trying it out if my new housemates agree (I will know on monday)

If they do however then which would be the easiest way to go about it all? With regards to getting the bundle and moving my lines (tel and dsl?)
