I am interested to know just exactly how many clients Afrihost has lost already as a result of this ridiculous shaping. I used to recommend Afrihost to all my friends and now.....???? Whoops!! Not a good idea anymore.

Well, they have just lost me -Bye bye Afrihost - So long & thanks for all the fish.
What beats me is the fact that last month we went full steam in the south and this month all of a sudden we are shaped to 10% of our line speed. What happened here that all of a sudden there is such a bandwidth shortage....
There was an iOS update![]()
I don't follow.
They gave it away to capped users for free. What beats me is the fact that last month we went full steam in the south and this month all of a sudden we are shaped to 10% of our line speed. What happened here that all of a sudden there is such a bandwidth shortage....

It was a joke
The last time the network problems started was because of an iOS update many many moon's ago.
Not to beat around the bush, I know there was one last week so I don't think I'm lying when I say this.
Can you explain the connection between iOS updates and Afrihost's network speed please? I figure it has something to do with their using MTN infrastructure.
I have a 2Mb uncapped bundled with my line. I want to change this 2Mb uncapped to a free 1Gb capped while I try out some other ISPs (need to keep the AH account alive to save changing e-mail addresses until I decide who to go with). The question is, do I have to unbundle my line to make this change and if I do have to unbundle can I then re-bundle my line with the 1Gb free account?
What I'm saying is that they are running their network like Eskom (no reserve capacity) and when there comes a time when there is a mass update ie: iOS or windows update etc, things turn pear shaped pretty quickly.
I wasn't aware that the same network capacity was used for MTN's cellular and ADSL networks.
:wtf:

No, they're completely separate networks.
