Shaping will always be a possibility but we're hoping to also have some contingencies in the future to try to ensure that we can better manage periods like this when we're awaiting ordered capacity.

I assume you mean contingency plans. Can you provide some examples of these?

Also I'm still very eager to find out what the cause of the current network problems is.

I think these plans are still in discussion phases :(
Cause wise, our additional capacity that was ordered late last year hasn't been delivered as yet - causing these issues.

Then why is the network status message on your website "All quiet on the Battle Front - that is to say that everything is working as it should be, NO problems!"?

Seems deceitful to me.

IT IS! This is done so as NOT to scare off new clients... the same new clients that are lured with double-data giveaways... while the existing Uncapped Users foot the bill :(

Me too.

Axxess seem to have the balls to say MTN's IPC in the south is under load and have posted accordingly in the network status section, but it seems AH is too poop scared.

Just because of this fact, I would choose Axxess over AH anyday, just because they COMMUNICATE when their are issues and there clearly are, so if I was getting slow throughput but other ISP's were fine I would understand why!

AH just communicate hot air.

We are experiencing high network demand in the South and East (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban), resulting in real time services being affected on Uncapped accounts. This infrastructure is expected to be upgraded within 2 weeks, which will resolve the congestion. We appreciate your understanding whilst we await completion of the upgrade.

Axxess even has an ETA.... How is it Afrihost knows nothing? :wtf:

Telkom haven't confirmed an ETA on the new capacity.

So Afriman/Afriguy, here's a serious question, what are Afrihost going to do if the situation occurs where they get the additional capacity from Telkom, and it still doesn't sort out the mess that you're currently in? You guys are throwing all your eggs into the "capacity will alleviate the issues" excuse, but what will happen if that plan fails? Are there any contingencies? I think as paying customers you will need to provide us with full disclosure so that we can also plan our lives accordingly. It's only fair, don't you think?

On top of the additional order, we've requested more - so the capacity that'll be coming on line will most definitely be more than sufficient.

Say it isn't.... then what?
Seriously..what do you think...just move then. When Afriman/guy/lady/person (did I leave anyone out? :D) say that the capacity has been delivered and the service is still this bad. Until then, they can't tell you...

Well I'm busy trying to figure out if patience is worth it in this case. Afrihost were always extremely good, but after reading about 15+ pages of this thread, it doesn't seem to be the case anymore. All I've read is that the additional capacity will sort out the issues we're all experiencing at the moment, so I'm simply asking, what if it doesn't? If you or Afriman don't like hard questions, then you're just adding to the apathetic nature of our current society...

This isn't what they were asking in the post you replied to. They were asking why the network notices make it seem as if everything's peachy, while it isn't.

We're confident we'll have enough capacity :)

I suppose they're unwilling to give you an ETA just in case they're incorrect.

Does Afrihost have a good relationship with Telkom?

We do have a good relationship with them, but I think a few delays are beyond both our and Telkoms control at this stage.
