Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

can't stream twitch on a 10mb line, games fluctuate alot with ping and general browsing is weird, but my downloads are fine so I got that going for me

Additional capacity does take time, sometimes months to go through.
The minute AfriMan or myself hear any news around the network we'll have it posted up here.
 
Hey Afriguy I upgraded my line to 2meg yesterday my line surprisingly upgraded instantly but its only syncing at 15Mbps i am using ADSL2+ not VDSL yet. perhaps could we try push the sync up a little? can i DM you number?

15Mbps may be the highest stable sync - lets see what we can do though.
 


Are upload speeds going to improve ever again? damn afrihost you are definitely contending for worst isp in south africa right now!
 
Still getting bad latency on Afrihost. Been struggling with it for nearly 2 weeks now. Got in touch with Telkom and they let me test with one of their accounts to make sure that it wasn't on the exchange or with my line.
Telkom tracert was done about 2 minutes after the Afrihost one

The latency on your traceroute when you're using your Afrihost is too high at the exchange, wonder if there's a mis-config here. Do you see this consistently?
 
For interest sake does the mweb and afrihost network share any backbone? yesterday playing with 5 friends 3 of them in mweb when my ping spiked to 190 ish theirs did too.

It seems that mweb that hosts steam is having issues. however person 3 on mweb does not have any ping spikes at all.

I wish I could post a Speedtest but can't even get the Speedtest site to fully load on a 40mb Uncapped account, tested with a different ISP and I get 35mb.

Really not sure why I paid Afrihost full price this month, if anyone can recommend a different ISP please do.

We don't, we use the MTN backbone while Mweb have their own IPC I think.
The latency spike you're seeing here may be related to issues we're working on fixing up.

Just tested again with the telkom account. After the 3rd test I started getting higher latency on it as well. Sigh...
