I upgraded on 27 March 2010 from 3 gig to uncapped. I presumed that by upgrading the 3 gig account would be cancelled. The invoice they sent me only made mention of the uncapped service. Ok it's an invoice not a statement so maybe that is why. As a result I pay for a 3 gig service for the month of April that I do not need, since i'm on "uncapped". I read somewhere that they said I would have needed to cancel before the 25th because the debit orders have already been sent to the bank. I don't buy that because they could have disabled the 3 gig service from their side and deducted it off the next possible debit order.

Not a train smash but the process should have been more transparent!!!

Other than that I am happy with the speeds and stability of the uncapped service. No problems here.

You appear to have answered your own question. The invoice is for the new service any refund would be by a credit note for the 3Gig account. The "uncapped" product has a price - if they invoiced the difference in cost their reconciliation would never work.

Although you have "uncapped" they still owe you the 3Gb even if they increase the limit from when they throttle from 30Gb to 33Gb because that is what you paid for but I think they mention something you acknowledge in the upgrade window when you upgrade.

I got charged the difference between a 5Gb package and uncapped on 512 when I upgraded on the first - it was like R154 or something...

Hi there,

Are you sure you upgraded or did you add a package to your account? I'm asking since I could not upgrade after the 25th, because they lock the upgrade option for the invoicing part of the month to take place. This was also stated in an e-mail sent by them on the 24th if I remember correctly.

If i'm not mistaken as a 386K user I didn't have the option to upgrade before the 25th. I was logged into the afrihost website with my user name and the application took that into consideration. So logic says that I am upgrading.

Which means you would have had two packages with Afrihost, hence the 3GB account already been invoiced since its passed the 25th. So I don't think Afrihost was in fault here.

Just my 2cents, so long as you are happy with your account.

And you didn't have the option to upgrade AFTER the 25th either. I know! I'm on a 384k account as well. The system did not allow upgrades because of how the billing works, so we all had to wait until 1 April.

So logic suggests that you may have actually ADDED a second account. Contact Afrihost support, explain the mistake and I'm sure they'll refund you. They're quite helpful!
