Ok so far I have had the worst migration experience in my life and I hope someone can give me the contact details of someone that can actually assist.

I'm going to try to keep it as short as possible. My fibre line was already cancelled at Vodacom and I have applied to Migrate my Fibre to Afrihost on 26 Oct. Then after a lot of back and forth more than one person at Afrihost said that the default Nokia/ONT router will work with Afrihost even after sending a lot of photos to them. This router is an ONT and a router in one and is managed directly by Vodacom. This is after I told them that other people that I know that switched to Vox received a new ONT because the Vodacom one doesn’t support other ISPs. So eventually one guy at Afrihost logged a new installation with Vodacom, even though it was a migration, so I had to wait for Vodacom for more than a week because they thought it was a full installation with a 4-hour booking. O and after I already made an appointment another guy at Afrihost said no I can cancel the appointment because the Vodacom Nokia router will work, but I never cancelled the appointment. The guy said Vodacom must just migrate the line on their side. They logged 2 requests for Vodacom to do this, but of course it didn't work. So when the installation guys showed up they arrived with the wrong router. After talking to the installation guys directly they even said to me that, no the Nokia router won't work, you need a smaller ONT, that is only an ONT, then connect that to the router Afrihost provided. So they drove back to their office to bring me the correct ONT.

Now I have the correct ONT (The same one other ISPs use here on Vodacom) and Router, but now Afrihost doesn’t receive any authentications from my side. So I have reported this to Afrihost on Monday around 3PM, Afrihost only logged the call at 10AM the next day at Vodacom. And still no feedback from Vodacom.

Vodacom has a 48 hour SLA with Afrihost, but still, Afrihost just told me this morning, no I must wait until tomorrow for feedback, just yesterday, they said I must wait until today.

I have sent plenty of photos of my setup to Afrihost and the settings. So they confirmed that everything is fine on my side.

I mean how difficult can it be to do a migration.

So does anyone know someone at Vodacom/Afrihost or 3xcom (that's the company doing the installations) that will be able to assist? Because I don’t understand how people that switched to Vox had about 1-day downtime just because his router didn’t arrive in time, but I am now almost busy with Afrihost for 3 weeks… The guy that actually came to install the ONT even showed me on his phone that Afrihost logged the request incorrectly and showed how Vox logged all of theirs as Migrations.

So seriously what is going on?

Hi,

Sorry for the issues you have faced with the migration.

A team memeber advised you incorrectly. With vodacom only the open access ONT.

Please send me a pm with your email so I can have a look at the query for you and the status of the order.

Just an update. AfriNatic sorted out the issue in less than 24 hours, HE'S THE BEST! He went above and beyond to get the issue sorted out. Internet now working
