Afrihost vs Screamer ISP

I see Screamer are now cheaper per GB than Afrihost. Has anyone used both of these companies as I am interested in the QOS and speeds they provide as a comparison. I am particularly interested in the 4MB offering.
 
Have the uncapped Screamer account, and a 5GB account with Afrihost....
The screamer account i have has terribly slow browsing speed, and i am going to cancel soon!
The Afrihost account runs through IS (Internet Solutions), and i have no problem with them at all.

So i would recommend Afrihost!
 
Thanks Mr Dover! I use Afrihost currently and am more than happy with their service. I see you have the uncapped account, I wonder is the service the same for the capped shaped offering?

No comparison! I'm not one to write comments on forums, but I thought that I should share my experiences with you since it is so pertinent. I had subscribed to Screamer, because of the pricing. It was an awful experience, both in terms of internet access speeds, as well as support. Their website also sucks. The pages would not load fully when I browsed the internet...that is how bad it was.

I then looked at the other offerings and tried Afrihost! Absolute heaven compared with Screamer. It costs only a little more than Screamer - R29 p/gb vs R23 p/gb. Everything just worked as it should. When I tried measuring the Screamer internet connection speed using speedtest.net, it would hang or register extremely low scores. When I measured it using Afrihost I got consistently over 1Mbps download speeds. I must mention, in all fairness, that the Screamer download speeds when downloading torrents or nzbs, were not too bad.

Considering my experience with both, I would strongly recommend that you choose Afrihost. The cost "saving" is not worth the pain and suffering that you will go through using Screamer. The top-up specials that Afrihost offers now and again are fantastic...an effective R14,50 per GB.

Both of them offer monthly contracts, so you can experiment with it if you want to. It is relatively cheap to experience their services for yourself. Who knows, you may end up with a completely different result. I did not have any problems with Screamer when cancelling my contract.

I have accounts with both. Afrihost wins hands down on thier support and admin! But since Screamer has been "Screaming" for the last two weeks, I would say in the long run they win on R/gig! But I must say again, Afrihost is freakin superb in comparrison to Screamer when it comes to support and so on! When Screamer was down and out for a week, I battled to get hold of a person to actually speak too.... I know they had an influx of new subscribers and it was in week one of the new year... but still it had me pulling my hair out!

BTW: Screamer 512 account and line = 33gig down & 7gig up so far this month..
 
I use Afrihost as my backup ISP, signed up for the 1gig @R29/pm. If I need more it costs R29/gig for topups...
 
Afrihost is also been the best for me by a long shot . Better than telkom and webmail. these 2 I use as a backup

LOL, it's actually sad how so many (myself included) use Afrihost as their backup ISP.
 
Still new to the ADSL Market, got my 512 line installed and with all the good references to Afrihost I chose them @ R39 Prepaid just to try them out, I have now topped up the account twice. If afrihost could only bring out an affordable uncapped solution they will have me as a customer forever. R299 p/m lol :)

I haven't tried Screamer but I've only had pleasant service with Afrihost. I once rectified a billing error (caused by me) at 2am. I don't think Afrihost can be topped!

i spoke to a sales rep and Afrihost and they only said like 5-6months till they get uncapped :(
 
Screamer vs Afrihost

I've had Screamer for 2 months now and their launch service was very flaky but over the past 3 weeks they have got their act together and their speeds are the same as I got on Afrihost.

I would not go back to Afrihost now.
