There are so many negative threads about Afrihost on the forum, and perhaps some of it is fair given the flop they made with the early launch of uncapped packages, but I am a capped subscriber and have had nothing but good service, cheap and fast bandwidth

I just wanted to start a POSITIVE thread to say thanks for revolutionizing the adsl market in SA, (before afrihost decided they were going to introduce the R29 package, we were paying R70 to WA and thought we had it good) Who saw us paying R14 per gb six months ago?

I have no link to them what so ever, but figured they deserve a bit of praise for what they've done

Yeah, my capped service from them has also been working perfectly since I got it. So glad I didn't upgrade to their uncapped 'service' though.

My sentiments as-well

Thanks Afrihost! Now sort out my log-in details problem already! You reply 5 minutes after I log it to say sorry you took so long to reply, only to not do anything after that first reply.

I am currently using Afrihost uncapped and yes there were a few teething problems but judging by the forums it was with most of the ISP's. So that said, after using them for about a month overall I can say Ive been happy with the uncapped service. I will continue to support them. I hope more people will do the same. They deserve the backing.

Assuming you're not an employee ... :p ... I am also capped and for my needs I see no need to go uncapped. It's still quick enough and the top up facility is there if I ever need it. 2 for 1 every so often and I can download the odd big file I might need ;)

TRUE

fwiw our businesses were spending about 1.7k a month for only 35gigs.. We used concurrents to keep various places connected. And constantly topping up at R70/gig.

Now, with afrihost we buy about 50gigs for under R1450k!

Have been using their capped service since September last year, with no issues.

When Afrihost introduced their uncapped service, I looked at it and decided my usage didn't justify changing.

I see no reason to change ISPs at this point, unless someone comes along with not only a cheaper price and superior service, but also some sort of positive track record.

haha

nah im not... just feel afrihost have taken alot of abuse and havent recieved enough praise for what they've done..
there are so many negative threads about them on this forum which could deter new customers from signing up, and afrihost going under is the last thing the SA ADSL market needs, if anyone is going to set a new benchmark for lower prices in the future it'll probably be them

There is absolutely nothing wrong with their capped product

Had their capped top-up, and it was a pleasure. Made the move to uncapped, and although glitchy to start, am happy with the product. It suits my extended needs, and i'm still happy with the service. Go Go Gadget Gian.

Afrihost provide great customer service. I had a capped account with them and moved to uncapped in march.

Although I have now cancelled my uncapped 384 account with them. I will be happy to return once the issues are sorted out.

For now, their products do not meet my requirements.

Well done on great customer service and also on shaking up the market.

Positives about my Afrihost experience:

- Cheap prepaid ADSL and speeds are excellent
- Uncapped account works with rapidshare and speeds are good
- Every time I phoned them, I had good customer service

I understand other people's gripe about Afrihost Uncapped and they are fully justifiable. However, MWEB is not a saint according to what I read and so I will stay with Afrihost. I've moved 90GB this month and I that is enough for me.

At my usage, 30 gigs by the weekend. Comes out at R6.57 a gig? An absolute bargain. If Afrihost still makes some tom ontop of this, then win:win.

Love afrihost at the moment. I bought 1gb for R39 (lasts for a year I think) and have been topping up over the weekend (2 for 1 which is awsome*). Bandwith gets automatically deducated from the top up gigs instead of the R39 gig one. So I am happy. Getting a great speed too.

*The 2 for 1 is their normal special and doesnt apply to the prepaid one.

I wasn't sure if their prepaid topups also ran the special. The prepaid topup popup is different from the monthly topup popup and doesn't mention the free gigs except in the disclaimer below:

I understand that I will be charged immediately for this topup and that my data will expire on: 2011-04-26 23:59:59 If you are making use of the ADSL Topup Buy 1 Get 2 Special please note that the bandwidth of that special expires on: 2010-04-30 23:59:59

I just tried topping up my prepaid and only got 1 GB. No free GB. :(

I'll add praise here... Just signed up for their R29-per-GB subsidizing-you-with-our-marketing-budget offer and it's been good. Got service in the middle of the night, too.

Except when SEACOM breaks, then say goodbye to International. =)
