Afrihost is a South African Internet Service Provider (ISP) providing ADSL broadband services and web hosting products.

The company was started in 2000 by CEO Gian Visser, Brendan Armstrong and Peter Meintjes, and were later joined by Greg Payne (former COO of Internet Solutions). Originally a web hosting and general IT services company, Afrihost joined the broadband market in 2009. They have since been joined by Angus McRobert, former CEO of Internet Solutions and joint CEO of Vox Telecom.

Afrihost announced on 2 June 2014 that MTN has acquired a controlling stake in the company.

MTN bought 50% +1 of Afrihost’s shares, and the current Afrihost shareholders are retaining the remaining 50%.
