According to their site:

* All Monthly Capped DSL Bundles get FREE Double Anytime Data on top of the normal monthly data allocation, until 30 September 2014, at which point the offer will be revised or extended.
** Regular Post-Paid Telkom copper line required to apply for a DSL Service.

When did this start exactly? A month or two ago right? Does anyone have the exact date?

I am on the 10MB 50GB bundle, and I'm still on 50GB. Just reached my cap, and I'm wondering why I haven't gotten my extra data that I'm paying for?

My next question is who to move to from Afrihost?

Most people move to Web Africa.

It's probably just a glitch with your account. Contact support, I'm sure they will sort you out in no time.

And you're the only one that's having an issue.

Not entirely true, I had some small issues with them as well. They do shape, but very seldom and only on P2P. In comparison to a Connection.co.za capped account, WA's shaping is very tame.

Yeah I know 1 or 2 people may have issues. All ISPs have people with issues. The issues though on Web Africa are a magnitude less though.

Agreed. Imteresting thing is, although I'm in CPT, Afrihost and Axxess Capped accounts work brilliantly for me. Can't speak for their uncapped though or for speeds faster than 2Mb.

I got 10GB extra, after complaining (on 75GB package).

Not sure how this works, I think that you have to pay the new higher price in order to get double the data.

So it is very confusing, and quite deceptive.

Basically a way to hide the fact that they had a large price increase.

I've noticed that as well. It's now R15 per top up GB. It went down to R2 per GB just the other month. What's up with that?

I was on the same, 10MB ADSL and 50GB capped bundle, I was paying R450 per month. I was stalking them for 4 months on mybroadband and facebook trying to get an answer on when bundled clients would benefit. At last it came and was disguised as a double data promotion for bundled clients as well, but in fact is not double data (instead if you are paying a lot, then you get double data meaning you still pay for each gb, there is no free double data, you pay for each gb as per their own articles on mybroadband).

In any case, when I enquired about the status of the double data, they informed me that I would have to unbundle first to get it. So on their instruction I did this. Then I tried bundling again, but then somehow the prices got increased, I was lured into unbundling so that I had to pay more. Now I was paying around R597 per month after bundling again. Upon further enquiries I was told because of the monthly fee I am paying (R450 - which is what their bundle cost last year) I can only get 2gb free data, and not another full 50gb, because it am not paying a high enough monthly premium. Shocked by this conclusion and their actions, I ran around sending emails to everyone in Afrihost, even Gian, just to try and get everything back to normal at R450 as I was no longer interested in the double data of 50gb. I was met with the same answer: "Sorry you can not go pack to your previous package of R450. You can not undo the previous unbundling. You will pay R597 from now on."

And when I tried informing them that they did not make me aware of all this bull**** when doing the unbundling on my behalf, they said I will pay R597 for the 10MB ADSL 50GB capped bundle plus the measly extra 2gb. I was truly disgusted. To this day I have not even received the extra 2gb, but they can keep it. Lying to me and forcing me to pay more for less at the end of the day can never be undone. I started looking at alternative ISPs.

The double data promotion is advertised as double data, but you get lured into paying more. And what's worse, is when the double data stops, I will lose the 2gb I am currently paying an extra R147 towards (in the increased price), but the price remains the same at R597. So at the end I will sit with 50gb and they managed to force me to pay more. I have never in my life had such an experience where the truth was hidden from a loyal customer. Obviously I am glad for people who paid around R650 for their bundles and now get the double data, I really am glad for them. But they way in which the clients who were on cheaper bundles were handled now (which was not a special price, that was their bundle cost last year August for this same package) is shocking. It is disgusting. And they way in which they gave me a big F U RK YOU is more disgusting.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for that Brakanjan.

I have spoken to them and they have informed me of that. There were some additional costs that I was paying for (domains etc), which inflated my bill, and I had overlooked an amount marked "discount" on my invoice, which basically meant that I'm currently paying R450 for the 50GB 10MB bundle.

So since I don't really go over my cap that often, I've decided to stay on the 50GB bundle and pay R450.

I have been with Afrihost for a few months now and have never been more confused in my life. Last month i got 66GB and no double data, this month 50GB + 1GB and also no double data. After many emails back and forth - i just left it. Will look elsewhere for a more consistant ISP. I dont want my cap to be a bloody guessing game every month.
