Regarding your free 1GB accounts, I feel the way in which it's done needs to change.
For instance, a friend of mine is having great uphill with another ISP atm so I opened a free 1GB for him.
Now this account sensed my email address and opened this account in my name and has now sent me an email saying I only have X amount left etc... of which I have no interest in.
Surely you should have asked for his email address, and made the username in his name etc and now written to him as you need him as a new client and not me as I'm already a client.
Doing it this way you are going to loose him as a new client ?

OK so let me get this straight...YOU open an account for your friend from presumably YOUR computer and then somehow seem angry at AH that it "sensed" YOU as the primary contact?

You can rage at AH for this but personally I'd suggest breath deep and politely ask AH to help resolve an accidental confusion on the identity front.

edit...you can totally rage at me too if that helps.

Do the bolded words reveal a secret code?

How did it "sense" you e-mail address? You were probably either logged in to your clientzone or have your email cached in the browser. Just use a different browser or clear your cache.

I tested it now and it asks me if I'm a new user or an existing one:

I'm beginning to think we needed to start a myBB version of the Darwin awards

Problem is you, not Afrihost. You should have signed out of your AH account and signed up with your friends deatails.\\Or better yet, get him to sign up for the account.

I work for an ISP and this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to clients and their funny queries.
Wish I could upload all the funny calls to Youtube its really entertaining.

LOL, I disagree with you guys and btw, I'm not angry, why should I be as I'm not the one who is loosing business.
All the account needs to do is ask for an email address, it's as simple as that, regardless whether I'm logged on or not.
Surely the software should sense I'm already a client and still have over 50 GB spare.
It's to AH advantage to change it or just loose clients, it's as simple as that.

I did after hours phone support for an isp back in 94/95. At least 30 percent of the calls to help set up dial up networking or trumpet winsock ended with "awesome, it works!.... Er... Can you tell me.... Er... /whisper Where do I find the porn?"

Lot's of people have the free 1GB account as a backup. Even if they have 100GBs free.

Stop blaming AH for your mistake.

I have the same issue with my gmail account. When I want to add a contact, it automatically wants to add it to gmail instead of asking me if I want to add it to yahoo, hotmail, or outlook.

The same when I press the compose button, it automatically assumes I want to compose an email....even if in fact I wanted to compose some music. That totally sucks, and is totally unacceptable.....Google can take their email address and just shove it,am taking my business elsewhere!!!
