*Possible Spoiler Alert*

In the near future, humanity was forced to abandon the planet forever after cataclysmic events, and they re-established mankind on the planet Nova Prime, light years away from Earth, and managed to rebuild society. Earth was cleared of traces of mankind and left in its prime state, and continued to flourish on its own. Shortly after colonization of Nova Prime, a Ranger Corps was founded to control peace in the space, since Nova Prime is in the colonized system.

One thousand years after the departure from Earth (implied as 1000 A.E. in film) the Ranger Corps is led by General Cypher Raige (Will Smith), a wise but cold and emotionless father. His teenage son, Kitai (Jaden Smith), is one of the training recruits, but his knack for mischief frustrates Cypher, who eventually does not promote him. Seeing this as a longing for his father's love, Cypher's wife (Sophie Okonedo) tells Cypher to do some bonding with Kitai.

Taking her advice, Cypher takes Kitai on a mission trip to Earth. The ship comes into an asteroid field and crashes on Earth, killing everyone except Cypher and Kitai. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help so they can return to Nova Prime, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. The father and son must learn to work together and learn to trust one another if they want any chance of escaping Earth and returning home.
Sounds good... but when I saw

It is co-written, produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and...

I was all :erm:, remembering the flop of the Last Airbender...

Will it be a flop or a success? Only time will tell...

I was actually looking for Titan AE... but stumbled on that instead.

The trailer looks amazing and Will Smith hasn't disappointed in forever. He made a success of the other movie where he acts on own for an hour can't remember the name.

Will and Jaden Smith get to spend all the time together. I can see why Willow smith dyes her hair pink and whips it back and forth, she just wants her dads attention :(

I think this movie will be a flop :(

Remember the escaped alien thingy they mentioned? M Night will produce a twist featuring said alien thingy...

Did daddy use all his millions to make his kid his own movie? Albeit it being a bad imitation of Oblivion?

The movie would have been better if the Smith's were not involved.

Ye Will Smith is trying his damdest to give his son a leg up in the industry. I don't blame him tbh.

I was very disappointed with the movie, even more so after watching the animated series. There was almost no character depth in the movie.

You are profoundly mistaken and I fear that your lack of discernment and good taste concatenates to every facet of your life.

It's only entertainment folks!

Shyamalan, schwymalan .. Will always makes entertaining movies (except maybe for Wild Wild West), and it's sci-fi so I can't wait for this one.
