Hey peeps.

Need 2c/advice here.

Have a customer who had alot of spyware on his pc - "virusheat"

Now after cleaning it and making sure it is gone , the networking of this pc is stuffed.

i can surf the net on it and ping Ips - but i can't browse local pcs on network. no \\ - nothing

Error : \\192.168.0.1 The network location cannot be reached.

Can't browse towards pc on network - and also not from it to other pcs.

Have done a netsh winsock reset , ipconfig /flushdns and a windows repaircd.

Any ideas/suggestions? Is there a utility that can repair the networking - or is it windows-redo?

well it could mayb be a firewall issue, check that out, things that hav been allowed or not...

^^ o.O

err no :P

the spyware breaks down the networking components of windows..

like i said - u can't browse out - or get in from another computer..

firewall adjustment doesn't do anything to help..

XP-reinstall-ftl - grr

already done reinstall :)

what is the local connector (part of network protocol set/procedures?) - i googled and didn't get alot of info

i did a complete removal of protocols and removed nics from pc - plugged in - but networking didn't work after that - same problem...

Tried a "netsh int ip reset log.txt" from the C:\> prompt?

Also check the host and lmhost files under C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\ for any dodgy entries.

Try looking for a small free program called LSP Fix. Stands for Layered Service Protocol

I had a problem at my work where 2 pc's got infected with the InfoStealer trojan/virus. After removal, the networking was stuffed. Using ping from the command prompt produced super weird results.

After running LSP, networking was fully and completely restored.

Hope this may be of use :)
