Aftermarket immobilisers

In the 'old' days, protection of your car from theft, often involved an immobiliser and anti hijack remote, or gearbox lock, or both.

We have advanced now to keyless ignition, and remote locking, but the criminals seem to have kept up with technology.

Are the traditional Auto guard immobiliser and gearlock (can't remember the brand) still available, and are they as effective as they used to be?

I would be happy to press a hidden button every time the car started, or a door opened, if it prevented theft or hijack

Keyless is not for me, shows my age!

yes still running strong ,make sure you get one with a vesa certification ,it must also cut 3 points minimum and it must be installed ,dont buy one over the counter and try fit it yourself ,modern cars electrics are not forgiving .

I somehow doubt a third party immobiliser would be better than the manufacturers keyless systems at this point in time.

Also keyless systems themselves aren’t really compromised directly, it’s that they are being relayed by characters following you around so a little bit of peripheral awareness goes a long way.

Hijacking has nothing to do with keyless and I’m not sure how an immobiliser is going to prevent those.

also if youre just after anti hi jack auto watch is one of the best ,it will be hijack ,indicators ,alarm,and siren,multiple ways to disarm ,magnet ,footswitch ,dash switch ,seatbelt etc usually 2 minutes ,30 seconds then alarm ,they can also be connected to tracking and sim diallers ,very comprehensive systems .
