Ag Virgin, Pleeeaaaase give us 3G?

Okay so it's U (jacqvt) me, Piesang ,Beri and Firefly550. Great, that's why Beri is flying tonight it's only 5 of us left.Cool

Thanx Firefly550 for the link, that put my mind to rest. I think Richard must pump some more money into the VM network and improve the internet dept. But old Richard is opening more and more of his networks all over the world. I think he must first perfect something before expanding.Guess money talks.

You're welcome GTi, i believe that RB pumped R 750 mill into VM SA could buy a network with that i'm sure:)

Is CellC not in finance difficulty, and is Virgin not buying then out????????
Richard Branson is eccentric not stupid.

A bit of financial thumb sucking will demonstrate why:

According to www.ogertelecom.com/Cell.html (the Co that formed Cellc):
Cell C revenues were R5.5bn with an EBITDA of R442m as of December 2005.
and www.cellular.co.za:
# Peak Funding Requirement: US$640million
It has spent more than $300 million of its estimated $640 million required funding
# Capital Structure: 50-50 debt-equity

So $300 000 000*6.7*50%=R1.005billion debt
Assuming 10% interest, thats at least R100million interest p/a (if they did not spend any of the other $340mil funding lol).

So they have at best 342m "profit" from which depreciation and amortization must still be subtracted and any remaining profit must be taxed. So it's not much of a margin on R5.5bn revenue.

IMO no financial meltdown, but not a shinning take-over target either. Take-overs require low existing gearing and decent cash-flow. Neither of which CellC has.

Way better for VM to buy a couple of VC/MTN towers for cash lol.

That is a lot of money to waste wonder where it all really went to?

Hopefully on infrastructure/towers and not office parties.

I think many of the "financial meltdown" claims are based on the fact that CellC is not making a profit. I don't think a profit at this stage is realistic given the
capital structure of 50/50 debt-equity and high initial capex.

It's all very much guessing since CellC is not required to publish financial statements. If someone happens to have/find them pls PM me. I'm sure MTN/VC managed to obtain them.

I've got 3G :D
I have 2 vodacom networks to choose from manually(one normal and one 3G) plus the CellC/Virgin Edge network, on my SE K800i
