We have opened the AGASA league website to registrations:
Introduction :
AGASA was created with one purpose in mind. We want to create a structured way of ranking Clans (and in the future
players) in South Africa.
Reason :
When asked who is the best clan, it is often just mentioned that *Clan A* is the best, and that’s the way it is. They always win at a specified LAN and thus it makes them the best. This is quite true for that specific LAN...
But what would happen if your performance isn’t just based on one specific LAN, what if your performance is based on a whole league of matches, Online and LAN based?
Would the result be the same? Would we find that other clans are suddenly challenging these specific strong clans?
Cheating :
With cheating not only resulting in the players’ disqualification but also the possibility of disqualifying his entire clan.
Scoring :
We have added a new scoring system, to keep clans in close competition for the duration of the league; even struggling clans can compete for domination in this league.
Thus a clan would have to consistently perform to maintain their top ranking.
We wish to build gaming into a Solid community with a mutual respect towards your fellow gamers, while at the same time taking gaming to new levels.
Rules and Regulations :
The AGASA Admins wrote all the rules and regulations. Strong influences on the rules come from both The American CAL League as well as the WCG.
Member Fee's :
There will be no member fee's to partake in this league. By registering yourself, you are automatically part of the league and of AGASA. Possibilities exist in the future for printing name cards, setting up official tournaments etc. If the public wants this, a nominal fee will be charged for the printing of the name cards and setting up and running of the events.
Prizes :
We have spoken to multiple sponsors, and there is a good chance of some nice prizes at the end of the league. But like with life, we cannot promise anything. Sponsors are exactly that, a Sponsor, and they are not forced to provide anything.
Community :
The AGASA League will be absolutely community driven. We will choose additional AGASA-Admins out of the Community. The Community will choose what stays and what goes for example: If there isn’t enough support for one game, and an overwhelming support for one not supported...we will do our best to exchange the two games.
A Large factor to keep in mind: If there isn’t enough support for the League, we will have to evaluate whether or not the league will continue. So if only 10 people show an interest, the league will not continue.
However if the league grows, we will most definitely incorporate new games into it, allowing the League to grow like all the other leagues currently in the world.
Games in the League:
Right now we are Hoping to support 3 games :
CS:S (Counter Strike : Source)
DOD:S (Day of Defeat : Source)
COD2 (Call of Duty 2)
We do have plans for all genres of games in the future. Unfortunatly with gaming being fragile at this point in time in SA. We plan to only support these 3 games for the first Season.
Time Line :
From now, Up to February 2006 we will allow members to register for the league. While this is happening we will modify the website as needed, updating the games to be played, changing rules as deemed fit by the community and appointing AGASA Admins.
February we will launch the League. Running for a period of 3 league legs :
Each leg will run for 2 months (8 weeks) the last week of each leg is a
Time-Out Week (thus week 8 ). In Addition each clan will also have 1 additional
Time-Out week during the leg.
With an 8 Clan league (per game), there will be 1 game per week for each clan.
The Legs were created to grant clans a break in-between their games, as we know it is a long
League. Also the Time-Outs at the end of a Leg could be used wisely to recruit new members
Into the clan. (As there will be a 2-week Lay-By time for any new clan members before they
Can play in the league) Making the Time-Out week the perfect time for recruiting new members.
We have been playing around with the idea of only having 2 legs for the league.
This is still very much in the air.
Please feel free to email us with ANY questions you might have, or post them on the forums. We will reply to them.
