Ageing

As soon as **any** augmentation of the organic body is embarked upon, it is an abomination of God’s plan and the augmented person is no longer human.

I wonder how vaccinations are considered. After all, it is an augmentation of the body against diseases. Is a vaccinated person still human? I have had vaccinations, but I thought I was human. My bad.

A promising nanotechnological line of medical research was to inject the body with cholesterol eliminating nanites – they would circulate (with the blood) throughout the body and attack build-ups of cholesterol. They will be dismayed to learn that they will no longer be human if they choose this path. They’ve probably had vaccinations anyway, so they are not human.

Try not to (it becomes tedious). It helps to read the posts. I have always maintained that the definition of being human is flexible (not rigid, locked into a particular timeframe). It ranges from stone age humans through heart & liver transplants, glasses, artificial limbs, etc. They are still human.
What does a timeframe have to do with defining a human being?
I read that you said definition of being human is flexible, but that's not very helpful to me. How would you differentiate between a dog and human? What characteristics(even if they are flexable) do you look at? Dogs are flexible too. Hmmmm.......

So then, would it be OK to use binoculars, night vision apparatus or levers – things which augment existing senses or strength, as long as they are not part of the body? As soon as **any** augmentation of the organic body is embarked upon, it is an abomination of God’s plan and the augmented person is no longer human.
Once again you seem to have somehow decided that I to think augmentation is evil or something. :D Aaah, discussion seems to be pointless...

Wow another bad example.
Do you consider the bacteria living in your stomach as you as well? Or are those little critters living in your eyebrows part of the human body now? What about a tapeworm infestation? Do you suddenly consider them human organs if they are inside someone, being human is defined as "being flexible" is it not?

You neither have the ability to sense and experience through said nanites(or vaccinations ;) ) nor to control their behavior directly with your mind.

Ok this was fun but pointless. Have fun now bye, bye.

Somehow I don't think whatever the defenition humans have for a transcend will matter to it. The evolutionary reward system of being part of a group will not exist in an immortal body that isn`t human.

Of course, you are right. Why on Earth fret about whether you will be considered human if you don’t care. The downside of this transcend is that the transcended human will be operating in a world of your their making and design, cutting-off the transcended human from the potential of surprises in the existing world (if it’s not a sophisticated simulation itself).

Palmino, is that your future?

Newsflash: you can be (or look like) whatever you want. You have Godlike powers. I doubt that anyone would want to look as bizarre as your example though (it looks primitive and non-functional). It’s not even a particularly good try. Too Hollywood-ish.
